Screen Grabs / Color Corr? TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS!

I think the pics without color correction look better. Mostly the just seem brighter and you may have been going for the darker look.

I can't understand why people call this "Colour Correction"...

Colour Grading anyone...?

Cant be havin contrast now...gotta have low-contrasty grabs with all kinds of murky grays or else people dont like it. And the more noise, the better.

That'll teach me...

I didn't even read that the post was by Lakmir0...

maybe he wasn't being sarcastic... *the horror

anyone else have any comments on the post... not about what sarcasm is....haha

thanks

I like the post corrected shots.. crushed blacks give the 2 band members more presense as they stand out from the background. Abit too contrasty so looks very video-y and not film like. maybe u can soften the video little?

With regards to grain, I personally think its a personal preference and choice of look. Try to look at Cory's music vids.. he does very very good film like look, but then he does shoot with a Letus35 so the shallow DOF helps too..

Blacks crushed a bit too much, but still good. You could take the red down so the faces look less pink. That would also make the red guitar strap less 'chunky'.

I think you basically put too much light on them. In the orig, the singer's face is almost burning on his forehead, under his eye, etc. With this much light, there is little 'headroom' for drastic CC.

If you have DV Rack on a notebook, peg the faces at 60 IRE or lower when shooting. If you're up near 80-90 IRE, it gives you less options for CC.

Give it a "look" I would go for green with the way the band looks, play with your curves, don't limit yourself to contrast/brightness, "real" color grading takes not only the tops and bottoms into the equation but also all your ranges, mids darks highs and then go into your RED mids/darks/highs and the same for the BLUE and GREEN

best way to color grade is to play till you see what you like. IMHO

also, you can't do this cause you shot the way you did, but use FOG in Band videos. it looks so much better after a color grade with fog in the scene.

Brandon, what's up with a pic of yourself and a dvx as your message tag? I mean, c'mon...is it about YOU or your work on this board?

Dont worry Briceman, everything Lakmir0 says is rediculous.

The only thing ridiculous is your lack of English skills and usage. I see that the "Briceman" and Invisible Productions (invisible because his great products dont exist) have a bias against me. That is fine but note, I was being sarcastic. I guess you two boys are too young to understand sarcasm, cynicism, or anything else other than literal interpretation.

I know this post will be removed because Brinceman will cry to the Moderator like he did yesterday.
