Frame Grabs with CC critique please?

I was going for a green hue stylized look myself, bballplaya283's looks killer.Ii like it. What did you use? I like Brice's gritty yellowish one too, it would do well in a really slimy stylized nasty kind of scene.

cool, yeah, bballplaya's looks cool... I didn't really know what kinda look you were goin' for, so I just threw one look out there :)

... both cc's look a little to artificial, like your trying to hard to get it to look like film...

With all due respect, this is the lamest statement I have ever heard. Of course I 'm trying hard to get it to look like film if I actually want it to LOOK like film. Notice how no one addressed my point about why people talk big about the filmlook but not one even comes close to the look of the frame grab i put up. I think you are just trying to imitate the TV show look instead of film.

I'd argue that this grab looks like film...

Brandon, I think that is passable for film, but I also think this grab is too...

This was on an XL2, btw. Looks blown out for those of you who are conservative, but it does attempt to use the maximum range of video contrast.

On a further note, I find it funny that most of the grabs people think are "filmlike" are letterboxed instead of native widescreen...interesting.

Invision, dude, I really think you have never looked at a piece of filmstock. For goodness sake, did you look at my Super 8 film grab? What have you posted or commented on that looks anything of that composition? You have the mentality that pretty picture = film. I think the grabs you talk about have nice pictures, very pretty, very clean, but not filmlike. Film like doesnt mean pretty. If anything, film is very grainy. Especially in the low-budget realm. Dude, look at some low-budget film productions and then come talk to me about what film looks like.

When you watch old horror movies like Halloween and such that were shot on FILM, which do they look more like? My grabs or yours? Be honest now.

Wow...you really are an ameatur. Anyone who tries to encompass all of film and its possibilities into one category or "style" obviously doesn't have the slightest idea of what film really is. You keep on shooting your blown out, murky video...Fine by me:)

Dude, say all you want but where is your footage man? And I realize what film is. You think that just because something is gritty that it's crap. Watch some old grindhouse horror and you will know exactly where I'm coming from. That look come partially from the lighting but many of the visual characteristics of those films were due to their technical limitations. The most of which was their shooting format. A lot of those films were done with 16mm or even Super 8MM. I think you are getting angry because maybe, in this instance, I know what I'm talking about more than you do. Don't get mad, just read up and see for yourself. If you like the look you have, great! I think it's a nice look but it isnt really like low-budget film. It is just glorious video. If you want low-budget film look, watch the great films of old from the low-budget masters.

I never said anything about gritty content being crap, I said that your footage looks like crappy video. Argue all you want buddy, it'll never be worth it for you.

Okay, this is getting lame fast because I'm the only one using reasoning and grabs, you are merely using insults and opinion. Saying "your footage looks like crappy video" is not scientific. Post some of your footage for me to criticize then...

Hey... Lakmir.... Here's a clip, short... but it show's some footage that very much looks like 35mm film... LINK REMOVED

Lots of things make a shot look like film... movement... composition... scenery... color scheme... etc.

Who in the world ever said they wanted their movie looking like low-budget film????

Brandon,
That does look like film. But it looks more like big budget film. There's something wrong with your idea of film or something. LMAO

There's something WRONG with my idea of film? I'm not quite understanding...

The above clip is something I shot with the DVX.

Brandon,
I was being facetious since someone mentioned the look of low budget. In all honesty I really liked that shot and the cc. It was good! Compliments to you!
