Hey,

Began production last weekend on a short we are trying to get done before all of us go off to college. (probably not going to happen). Anyway, I am cataloging our escapades through this movie, along with some BTS pics and grabs here: refuge homepage.

And here are the grabs with no CC:

I really like 1, 2 & 4. The colors are great. The light coming from the window seems very cinematic to me. On the first one you can see that there are two color temperatures going on though. Orange/yellow and green/blue combined. Number 5 looks more video like. Overall, they are vey filmic and intriguing. Good work!!!

The grabs look great. Nice to see what can be achieved with proper lighting. Also like the site, a lot of great info. I'll keep following the progress.

Even without CC, they look great. Instead of just lighting the characters, you did a nice job in lighting the entire frame to create nice compositions. Kudos!

I really like the look of the 4th grab, to me the lighting is really nice. I also enjoyed reading your production journal, I find it really helpful to be able to actually see how things are done. I liked how you had some pictures of how things were set up, as well as how the scene looked through the camera. If you have the time on set I think it'd be interesting as well as helpful to myself and others to see more pictures of how the scene is set up, lighting wise and whatnot.

I am curious...I have never shot a DVX before so that's why I ask, but do all DVX filmmakers light the same way or is it just the way the camera works? I think most of the grabs I see from DVX footage look the same. I mean this as far as contrast, light levels, so forth. Does DVX have presets only or is that sortof thing adjustable in camera?

The DVX has adjustable everything concerning it's image (well, almost!). I would have to personally disagree with you about most of the footage looking the same, however. I lit this piece the way I did to aid the story and create a visually interesting piece.
