THis thing is Gorgeous!

I cant believe the dynamic range and highlight handling. it simply beautiful!!!

I did see the SSE, when i turned the iris down to F16, but it was almost unnoticable. the camera appeare well adjusted.

I was at B&H, and interoir was under exposed by 2 stops and the exterior out the window was over done by 3-4, but there was DETAIL all over the place!!!!! the DVX right across the table, was totally blowing ot the exterior portions of the picture.

i was really pleased. it looked great, enjoy your aweosme machine guys. How is its HDV compression? is it less sceptible to macroblocking than SOny HDV?

I use both the Hd100 and the Sony extensively. HD100 lead cam for weddings and Sony for aux cam.

When I sit down to edit you can really see the difference in imagining between the two. The HD100 picture is so good. Now that I have become a better shooter the cam continues to suprise me.

But the sony is a great cam too. I use it in park pictures and bridals any run and gun situations. Battery life is great, agility is great for over the head, angled on the floor dvx type shooting.

The image stabilization, auto focus make it perfect for me to give to a newbie trainee and get great results.

I especially love the LCD screen on the Sony. It looks good it inspires you on the field where as with the JVC you just have to know and trust the CCD and cam that the footage is going to look great in post.

And it always does...

I tend to kepp my LCD brightness really bright to keep me from over exposing a shot or putting to much un-nessary gain.

On the field I always say referring to the JVC "this cam is a pain in the butt, its so much work, where is the Sony?" then when I begin to edit and cut A/B its like "ahhh.. I remember why I bought this cam" and it all worth it.

But hey don't get me wrong the imaging on the Sony is not bad. Actually its great too just not as there... you need to A/B both cams for yourself to know what I mean.

HDV..to me is a cost effective bandaid until someone invents a cam like the Z1U or HD100 that come with a builtin removable harddrive (not P2 that cost an arm and store a few minutes) that stores at least six hours of DVCproHD or better.

If you are doing any type of studio recording switch live with a V440HD video mixer. All of these cams have great uncompressed analog video outs that bypass any compression.

HD100 still looks better than sony from the uncompressed outputs.

Now all we need to be complete is reasonable priced HD dvd or Bluray burners.

Just be careful doing head to heads at the camera store. B&H has hundreds of hands a day frikking around with the camera settings. Unless you reset both cameras to factory and then set them up specifically to compare, you really can't say one camera does "bad" based on the B&H showroom model.

For any comparisons like that, I'd suggest a smaller store where 1) the cameras dont get fiddled with by the random fingers of random customers random kids and 2) the employees know how to help you compare the cameras head to head.

sonisfear, can you tell me can you shoot uncompressed HDV instead of MPEG2 on external hard drive? Thanx.
