Pushing Granola: 30 second test with Brevis35

Wow. It looks great. Do you have any interior footage? Where was this shot at? Shot anything else?

Keep up the great work and hope to see a feature film in the future.

very nice looking, can't wait to see more. how are you doing the handheld and pulling focus, it looks very crisp.

If you've seen Bob's other footage you'll know that he's got skills, however the new Brevis has auto-focus and voice activation built in. Choose your weapon.

This is the problem I'm having deciding on the Brevis. Dennis keeps improving it and hinting at more surprises to come. It's not a case of if, but when.

Bob, do you think the time to buy is now?

I think this new brevis will has now proved it works well in HD, very well. The pics are sharp and provide good definition, I wonder how much light loss there was? Let's wait for the G35 and see what that offers, in the meantime, I think it's safe to say the brevis seems like the best adapter around at the moment...

Bob, just checked that clip. I have a feeling you are going to do great things with this adapter :-) Thanks for posting.

Thanks Dennis. I have a few more clips that I'll be posting soon.

minor complaint; the whites look really tapered and yellow. You can see this in one shot on the guy's face. :/

Bob, are you using an onboard monitor for focus / framing? I imagine shooting handheld with a flipped image would be tricky.

Yes the onboard LCD. I'm using the hack that flips it via paperclip.

Bob,

Great clip, thanks for sharing. A good example of real use, ppl in a scene, not close and far objects having a pull focus, which often makes it hard to gauge the effectiveness of these adapters. wd.

I have 'searched' the forum for a while, to no avail. Would you kindly explain or direct me to a link, how to do the paperclip LCD flip hack? Thanks in advance.

Here is the link to the hack:

It's amazing how much easier it is to shoot with the LCD hack. My little GS400 uses the exact same hinge as the HVX so its 3.5" LCD works great with the same mod. By the way, I'm not sure a metal paper clip is the best tool for that job. There's a tiny ribbon cable next to the microswitch so something plastic might be safer. I put a tiny nick in that ribbon cable and had to do some delicate soldering to re-establish the trace.

Yeah I think I should have more careful because it doesn't flip upsidedown when I flip the LCD over anymore. Oh well, I never really used that feature anyway. At least I can still view the image upside down with the adapter.
