Couple of questions while I'm considering the HVX:

- Can I use the 72mm wide angle lens and filters I use for my DVX100a?
- Can I use the batteries I have for my DVX on the HVX?
- How many minutes of 1080i can a 4GB P2 card hold?
- Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 supports high definition editing, but it doesn't support the file format on the P2 card. Is there a conversion program, if so, how much will that cost?
- Will Panasonic release a revamped HVX model soon?

and last, but not least:
-How much is a DVX100a worth these days? I'm hoping I can sell it for $2,000 if I decide to move to HD.

I sold my dvx100a for exactly 2000. It sold pretty quick. I'm pretty sure the batteries are the same. You can get 4minutes on the 4 gig card.

Recording times very much depend on the format and framerate -- in fact if you are considering 24P, then recording in 24PN (which doesn't record duplicate frames), you can get ten minutes of 720/24PN onto one 4GB card. I would download the "The Invaluable Guide to the AG-HVX200" for more details.

Nope, the HVX lens uses 82MM filters.

Can I use the batteries I have for my DVX on the HVX?
YES

4 min. As another said, 720 24pN - 10 min.

Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 supports high definition editing, but it doesn't support the file format on the P2 card. Is there a conversion program, if so, how much will that cost?
Look at ASPECT HD for editing with PPro. I am not sure it it supports all frame rates. For PC editing you should really look at Edius. Will edit directly from P2 and supports all frame rates. Edius 4.0 is coming out soon that will improve many areas.

Will Panasonic release a revamped HVX model soon?
Probably not, they will mlik this puppy for all it is worth!

If it is in great condition and you sell it with all accessories it might fetch that much.

You can get an 82mm-to-72mm step-down ring. However, it won't work with the wide angle lens from the DVX. The optics stick out too far in back and will run into the HVX lens. The 1.6x Teleconverter is bayonet mount, so it won't work. The Anamorphic Adapter will work, but shooting in 2.35:1 is of limited value. So the benefit of the step-down ring is for filters and if you have achromatic lenses -- closeup lenses.

On the other hand, you will probably be shooting in 16:9 on the HVX, and the lens has a better zoom range than the HVX. On the DVX you need to switch to those adapters in some situations to extend the tele or wide reach of the zoom. On the HVX, in most cases, I've found that the zoom has enough range. So I haven't been mising the wide lens or tele lens from the DVX.
