NBC's "The Office" Promo shot with HVX-200

Howdy,

Thought I would post a link to a quick video I shot for the contest NBC was having on YouTube to make your own office promo video. I shot it on the HVX200, as you can see from the video I didn't put it in any extreme situations, but I thought the cam did a great job!

Brad. Nice work there. Funny promo. When will you get feedback on what got selected? Only thing I would say and this would require some work, would be to key some video onto the monitor as it's flying by. But that's just me...


I still though can't stand the American version of the Office. The UK version is so much better on so many levels that it's hard to stomach it. Same thing when they tried to make Men Behaving Badly which was awesome in the UK.

Actually Justyn, NBC contacted me last night, to let me know that I have been selected as a finalist. They will be posting my video along with a few others on NBC.com soon - with any luck, maybe it will air!

Concerning the video on the monitor. That is a great idea, and certainly possible (I already roto'd out an exit sign from the ceiling) but my only issue with that is since the monitor is unplugged (can see plugs in air) that there would be no picture at that point.

I tried watching the "british" version along time ago.. couldn't get into it. Loved the American version, now when I watch the UK version I can map the characters back to their american counterparts and get a good laugh. =)

I'll keep ya'll posted.

Brad: just watched it, as soon as i saw the first 2 seconds i knew what was gunna happen, but i still laughed hella outloud here in the office. AWESOME work!

Brad... That's AWESOME news then. Congrats on getting that confirmation. Ya never know where this stuff leads to. I'm going to be entering the comedy central comp next month as well....

Thanks for considering my idea... I see ya point about the cord and all that. So nice to be constructive instead of a lot of people on here who just take pot shots... Well you might have something to celebrate soon enough. The couple of times my stuff has aired on national shows has always been a thrill. Even my last thing which aired on PAX was awesome and they didn't even butcher it or anything..

What a great, simple concept Brad! Kudos on both the lighting and sound design as well. Loved the female co-worker's reaction with the punchline. Looking forward to seeing the spot on NBC's site!
 
Yeah, I really like it. I would love to see this in full rez man!;) Also, I looked through the other entries, and yours was definitely one of the most professional.

Thanks Andrew! Appreciate the comments. There is a link at the top of my post that has the Windows Media full rez version 1280x720, but unfortunately high-compression.

However I must say that the WM9 HD encoder does a snappy job, and weighing in at 12MB - it is very impressive considering.

Ricky Gervais is a genius if you don't believe me watch these two clips from the original office sure genius .. now don't get me wrong . i love the new office it took awhile to get good but they have found there own . But i still love the character of david brent the best . his bbc radio show is also amazing

By the way i really loved the promo . just fine and dandy in my books . i would def expect to see this on tv .. and it should win .

if it doesn't ... ill boil the seas and turn the moon to sackcloth ,the sun to darkness. and all that is good innocent shall be consumed in a lake of fire . I then shall sit apon a throne of skulls in infinite melencholy for all eternety because you did not win . ........

mmm on second thought maybe ill just be really miffed and go and grab a beer.

From what I understand I was the last entry to be selected as part of the 20 finalists. I had to overnight my materials, and a notarized affidavit since I posted my video the last day of the contest. They had been selecting finalists as the contest went on.

Do you have links to your video on YouTube?
