Barrys Book Now Shipping!

We are on a 5 State shoot this week and let me tell you, Barry's book is helping me pass the time on the plane and while waiting around the airport.
So many of the settings (I've avoided due to playing it safe), are becoming much clearer.
Thanks Barry!!!

Today's my first day back and I'm trying to sort through all this now, and it seems like it's all under control, yes.

So welcome back Barry..this means that also my book is on the way!?!-nicee...!

Great work!

Great work!

Thank you, Barry, for your dedication and hard work!

We got your book yesterday, it took 6 days from your hands to ours (in Germany)!

I read til my eyes watered and I got too few hours of sleep today. Let me tell you, it is a revelation for someone like me. I am relatively new to the community. But that´s the best part of your book, it explains from basic concepts to expert usage!

A cheer for Barry, folks! Thanks again. :dankk2: Hope you get more credit over time and not only nagging comments like that one about the price, hihi. Managed to smear chocolate ice cream over one page, within two hours of first possession and learned to love the high quality print! No prob to wipe it clean. Also, the sturdy paper is not going to fail while shooting outside, another important point!

Ok, gotta stop praising your book... :love4:

Love from

Al & Joe

I've just got the book in the Spanish Postal Service. It had problems with the adress.
Tahnks for the support... now read and enjoy the book. ;)

Any word yet when Panasonic will be making The HVX Book available for those who have purchased the camera? I've not seen any postings on it (although I've been off the board for a couple weeks) nor have I seen anything on the Panasonic site yet.

Panasonic it would take about a month from the announcement about 3 weeks ago to even start the offer.

I know 2 people that ordered the book and don't have the camera yet!!!

That says a lot about Barry's credibility.

Thanks!!!

Thanks!!!

I just placed my order, I can't wait to receive it!!! My HVX has been collecting dust because I'm afraid to use it. LOL.

All orders have been sent, that I know of. It does take anywhere from 4 to 18 days for it to arrive. All orders are sent via USPS Global Priority Mail. I can't explain why some countries get it faster than others; I've had people in Germany say they got theirs within 4 days, and some in Canda (just a few hundred miles north of us) say that it took 18 days.

If it doesn't arrive within a reasonable amount of time, send me a PM and I'll look into what happened.

The reason is that when one uses USPS for delivering a package to countries outside the US, the workflow is such that when the package gets to the foreign country, it's GIVEN to the local post office. So final delivery is a function of the speediness of that country's local post office -- which is for the most part owned by the gov't.

When one uses FEDEX or DHL , it is not given to the local post office; it stays within the organization thus it's always faster -- no middle man i.e. local post office.

hope this helps

I'd like to be able to use one of those alternative services, but I can't find how to make it economically feasible. USPS charges $9.50 to get a package to England, and FedEx for the same package is $64. And that's for "International Economy" service; "International Priority" is more expensive! Sending one via FedEx to Canada would cost $49.46. As for DHL, sending to Canada would cost $52.46. And UPS would charge $52.49 to Canada.

I'd love to be able to offer faster shipping, but I just can't see how to make these other companies serve as a viable alternative to the USPS, since the USPS is less than $10 to nearly every country in the world. Of course, the penalty is slower/unpredictable delivery times.

Is there something I'm missing? Do they now have flat-rate services or something?

unfortunately the way the usps system is set up
I haven't found a flat-rate service,

UPS...Since UPS doesnt have a solid infrastucture overseas, it's even more expensive than fedex or dhl.

I send most of my international packs Global Priority as well, haven't lost one yet, but like you said it's unpredictable on delivery time.

I ordered Barry's book and THEN my hvx. Can't wait for both of them! I've been using canon's xl line for the last 5 or 6 years so I'm excited/nervous to be switching over to the panasonic, hoorah~ I've heard so much about this book and the dvx book and have been lurking on this forum for months learning plenty through barry and other dvxuser's posts, many thanks i say!

I have recieved the book and it's great but no video CD with it like we got with the DVX 100 book! Can we get such training DVD about the HVX 200?

I'd like to add my congratulations to other praise for Barry, and to encourage those who think ninety dollars is too much to ask themselves how much it would cost them to have the equivalent depth of knowledge and understanding from an equally expert DP and technician. As a technical writer myself, I have thoroughly enjoyed Barry's writing and his evidently firm grasp of the detail. If you want to get the best out of the HVX and save yourself time messing about with menu settings and struggling with the good but summary instruction manual, Barry's book is mandatory. The collection of scene settings alone is worth the entry fee in terms of time it could save you. Besides, the book is well printed on heavy-weight art and accurately sub-edited - a model of self-publishing. Well done to all.

Isnt it time for the site to be up yet???

Isnt it time for the site to be up yet???

............................still anxiously awaiting the post from Jan to the website that will let me register my HVX to get the free Barry book..
Whats the deal? Did I miss the post??!!
