From 24p to “Instant HD” with DVX100B
Already one of the most popular and versatile SD cameras on the market, the DVX100B now includes an exciting software package that will help integrate your DVX footage into the HD world.
Panasonic has announced a new rebate and bonus offer for the DVX100B. When you purchase a new Panasonic AG-DVX100B before September 30, 2006, you are eligible to receive a $350 cash rebate and free copies of Red Giant Software’s Magic Bullet Editors 2 and Instant HD software. You’ll also receive a free copy of the The DVX Book and DVD, by Barry Green.

Instant HD is a plug-in for Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. Specially designed to work with progressive images, the program up-converts SD video to a variety of HD formats. You can choose from a list of preset resolutions, making it easy to integrate DV video into your next high definition production. When scaling from standard definition to high definition, the missing pixels must be generated in an intelligent way. Instant HD provides a high-quality method for converting SD sources to HD within your favorite video application.

By no means official or authoritative, this snapshot of prices was done while doing my own diggin' around. I remember seeing a similar thread when I first started shopping and thought there might be some interest.
There have been a few "scam" price queries being too "good to be true" on here (i.e. USA Photo Nation, Express Digital, Genius Cameras, Prestige, Royal, JandK, etc.).......

:costumed-smiley-047 "I pity da fool that don't check bizrate or resellerratings.com"

We appreciate your kind words. However, I'd like to reiterate that DVXusers should never expect to pay our website prices for ANYTHING.

There is a special discount on all items... from DVX's to Lowel kits to mini DV tapes. All you have to do is give us a call and mention this website.

Keep on keepin' on, y'all!

PS: I just now realized you attributed the above writing to EVS. It is, however, from our esteemed friends at Abel Cinetech. Gotta give credit where it's due!

i got mine off ebay from a certified dealer for 3k, its all about looking up the company to find out how legit they are

As my first post I want to personaly thank the folks who put this forum together. I went through the entire dumb-ass learning boot-camp of contacting those Brooklyn scam artists and accumulated a great deal of knowledge and frustration at the same time.
Then I found this site and will use it frequently to make sure I'm not beeing taken down that road again. The sad thing is... my budget really did top-out at $2400 and now I find myself with a dead 5 year old Sony TRV20 and not enough $$$ to step up to my beloved DVX100B. I can only wait so long, and fear I'll just have to drop small change on another crappy disposable camera, or wait for a DVX100B to fall off a delivery truck. Yes... gently... and with warrenty.
Thanks for all the great info.

Stan

Very true, Barry. Interesting thing about that (and good news for owners I suppose) is DVX's in general (not just b's) seem to be holding their resale value well. No surprises there though.

I had my fingers crossed that a big leap to the HVX might free up some used DVX's in the market. It doesn't seem to be happening too much. Maybe I'm just holding out for a 100b.

Oddly enough, I just got a deal on a used Beta workhorse for cheaper than a used DVX100. I can hear the collective groans as I typed that. 24p or not, the project has to be shot now and it has to be broadcast quality. A $30,000 camera new, its used price surpassed rentals on a DVX for the shoot. Ouch.

Wish me luck as the Panny move is only a matter of time at this point. Thanks for all the info as always......

They say you tell at least 12 people about a bad experience, so I try to do the same for a good one....EVS all the way. I called ALL of the companies listed above when looking to purchase my 100B....Don't even get me started on Zoommania. If I had 3 wishes, one would be that I could have reached through the phone when dealing with them. EVS is the ONLY company that didn't bait and switch me, or seem to have only "packaged products" in stock, but not the camera itself, etc. I made a 2nd purchase for some DV tapes from them a couple days later and received my shipment the very next day. I can't imagine that you're going to get a better service or a better price from another company. I'm a nobody with 3 posts, but I've been a consumer for many years and I know when a company is built on integrity and stands behind their customer service.

OK... call me a spineless heretic but I reached a point where I could not wait for a DVX100b to fall off a delivery truck. I got tired of following them around and frankly... I think they were on to me.. ;-) So I won a NIB Sony HC3 for $1000 on eBay. My biggest beef with it is the touch screen menus, no audio inputs or headphone jack, and non-adjustable VF.... but it is 3CCD and HD with selectable HD/SD output options. The best thing about it is I will have an archive of miniDV HD footage.
The DVX100b might have to wait but my associates have hinted that some funding is in the works.
If so I will probably go with Great Northern Video in Concord, NH. They are 45 minutes away from me, they come highly recommended from some professional videographers I work with and they are NOT running scams from Brooklyn!
