Charging the battery

Hey,

My used Panasonic DVX100 original came today and I am charging the battery as we speak. I do have a couple of questions...

1. How do you know if the battery is fully charged? The green light is solid but when I try to insert the battery in the camera it says low battery.

Any ideas?

Chris

Sounds like the battery is bad. The charger turns the green LED on when the battery does not absorb the charge any more. Normally it happens when a good battery is fully charged. But an old or defective battery does not absorb charge either, for a different reason...

Actually, my charger turns green when I put the battery on to let me know that it's charging and will turn off again when the battery is fully charged. Try keeping it on the charger longer.

While I am on this what batteries are best for the DVX100? Has anyone used generics? I purchased two of these on eBay new for like $30.00.

We purchased about 20 of them on eBay for our in-house testing needs. All of them tested at about 2/3 of their claimed capacity (in our case it did not really matter). About 1/3 of them failed due to contacts falling of, or internal failures - DOA or shortly after the first 2-3 cycles. We keep sending them back for replacements, so hopefully we will have all of them in working condition...
