Hey!

First off, I wanted to thank the people on this board for coaching me and rescuing me from deep water throughout my years in film school at USC and beyond. I will always love and support my school and the training it has provided, however, I would have been completely lost at times without the knowledge and aid of so many incredible people on this board.

I know this site will continue to be an invaluable resource, and I hope it serves as useful to others as it has for me.

I recently shot this music video for and indie artist. And of course, the DVX worked like a charm! :) Please feel free to check it out.

WOW let me be the first to say that the pure quality and effort you put into this shows.

great!

great!

Great job man! Really beautiful imagery...Where was this shot? and does LOGO show music videos? Very cool stuff man...really...It shows you put alot of effort into it.

Keep rockin'!

Thanks guys for your comments. We shot out in east Los Angeles where no one really goes. I've always found that finding places with rich production design such as urban areas, beaches, junk yards, etc... crank up the production value, and you don't have to spend a dime.

I'm not sure the airing date on LOGO but I will post when I find out. They do air music videos on a show called newnownext (http://www.logoonline.com/shows/dyn/new_now_next/series.jhtml)

Heres another link to a documentary the artist was in that is on LOGO right now, if you guys are interested. http://www.logoonline.com/shows/dyn/hip_hop_homos/series.jhtml

Well

Well

With all respect you deserve,... that video...:banned:
Well, I'm making my first steps in DVX world, but not means that I'm ignore how wide arts can be. By now may be I'm not so good as you, but "maricas" videos do not compose nothing but deterioration of society. That kind behavior between guys is un-natural and too personal.
That kind of video can be an influence to young kids.

Nothing personal bro...is just my opinion!

I actually didn't use an adapter for the DOF shots...There is so much more I wish I could have done but there's always the issue of time and budget.

As far as the content of the video, not everyone is going to accept it. And that's fine. My goal as an artist is to find stories that are telling and that I care about.

Issues pertaining to race, gender, and sexuality have always inspired me, and they always will. I am an advocate for diversity and therefore, I have my own beliefs in what I feel is progressive. I attribute much of my success today to being true to what I believe in. I would recommend that to any filmmaker.

What did you use for the color tones? What Filters, or CC did you use?

Nice job, but I would have to turn subject matter like that down myself.
Besides the GAY thing, I don't do Adult subject matter.....now 2 chicks?...Nahh...:) kidding.

But having said that, VERY NICE WORK! I would like to know what Filters or CC you used. What NLE did you cut it on?

Actually my next video might have a lesbian scene...which I'm sure would draw some attention!:)

The only filters I used when shooting were some CTB gels on the lights during the exterior shots with some diffusion and bounce boards for fill.

I edited on FCP and used a magic bullet filter for the interior shots to achieve the cool look I wanted. I also had this professionally color corrected on Final Touch.

Great video man, really great. Couple of shots i felt I was straining to see a little too much... as in a touch dark in jus t a few areas. Was suprised when the GAY content became obvious. But very interesting material to work with I bet. Liked all your shots choices and composition. The whole feeling to this clip was perfect.

Great vid!
I first had problems with the song, simply because it sounded like a narrator was doing a voice-over of a movie trailer.
But this comes from expecting a standard rap video.
Instead I experienced something original, both music and video wise!
People asking to ban this video because of its homosexual content should be sent to a deserted island where they can watch sexist booty-shake rap videos along with schwarzenegger action movies all day long.
They would be happy and content, and society could move on.

sheesh, that color and contrast is great. Well done. I am also amazed at how clear it is for an internet clip. Keep up the good work.

Hey Guys,

Thanks again for your comments. Yeah, unfortunately YOUTUBE compresses the video even more when you upload so the images came out a little darker than they actually are...but it's not too bad, IMO.

I also just posted a doc I shot for PBS (w/ dvx of course) if anyone is interested. It's about my friend who is a film student who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. He types with his eyes! Anyway, I'll probably start a new thread, but here is the link.

DANG! That was awesome! Very well done!

I sit here with 100% good health, a bunch of video equipment and yet I find ways to talk myself out of so many things because of this, or that or another thing. Fear of failure. And this guy is moving ahead against all ods.

Very inspiring! Now that was good!
