Some random footage teaching my chic the HVX.

Surjones has done it again. Sweet looking stuff, brother. I think the flashing lightposts with the overcast sky looks like a million bucks.. and the colors on that sky is fab... Wonderful stuff we're seeing from this phat little cam.

I might move the file to your folder on the server if that's okay. I'll post a link when I do it....

So, got anything else? I'm finishing up a little something today.... Thanks for showing it off!

Good stuff!!
Hey fellas - we are selling footage!!
Doing a bunch of advertising.
We are now paying 60% in commissions!!
Plus, Panasonic is sending out demo DVD's of MotionZoneHD
footage to regional sales managers.
Each clip is identified with shooter name and clip number,
what a great way to get noticed!

Hehe I wish I had more.. We spent about 1 hour hour getting clearance, I think that with all do respect to the country we live in, and our government, better to let them know where we are and what we are doing. Maybe next time, since we are nice they might let us set up at the end of the runway next time. :)

PS. They also gave us a the best locations to be closest to each runway, of course, being I worked at a small Airport, I knew the basics, so I knew which runway they were going to land on. Also they came down and check on us, since we were on a 50ft steep drop cliff. We them checking on us as a thank you homage to them. If you notice the lights just buy accident, including the truck lights pulse with the music. we shot for 1:30 mins, One of the things I was teaching my chic was to be patient, and of course learning myself. :)

Nice stuff. I like where you have the same shot and just mess with the color temperature adjustments and chroma phase. I've been playing with that myself and it's amazing how you can create two totally different looks that both manage to look natural and gorgeous.

You know one thing I have been trying to do is; learn to do EVERYHING I CAN do in the camera, so I dont have to spend that time in post. because the chance of it not coming out right in post is a risk some times. SO I HAVE HEARD. But also I want to learn the limits of the camera as well.

One shot I even dropped the Master Ped -12 Can you tell which shot?

I think my favorite shot was the first one in the video.
I also have to give props to my chic. She shot some of those clips.

I think the first one behind the fence is easily the most stunning of the bunch.

Anyway, my guess is that out of focus, deeply saturated, close up behind the fence is the one with the M Ped to -12. Personally, I like to keep the M Ped between -3 and -9. It ensures some nice blacks (something which I think is very important in the film look but most people ignore) without losing too much detail. I've experimented in the double digits a few times though. Going all the way to -15 is just kind of ludicrous and looks odd, like a digial silloutte. However, a -12 can produce some interesting results. I did some stuff inside with all the light coming from the windows and kind of got an interesting, under-exposed look along the lines of The Godfather.

ya that is one thing I noticed. I went -15 on Master P. and I way to dark. Also yea, -12 was over kill, but I was like well it looked decent, and had a rough hard look. which I dont know what I could use it for, but a good test.

Awesome footage SurJones! The colors were beautiful. Great composition.
It's in my keeper folder! :)

Thanks Kevin, and eveyone else. I would still love some more feedback.

I get shots only based on what time allows, and can only frame a shot based on what I think looks good, of course.

Wish I could say, well this is the framing I need, becasue of X reason, and because psychologically the audience will repsond this way. yabbady yabbay blah.. Ya' get my point.

I am having more fun shooting now that I know a little bit more about the camera now having it for almost 2 months, and 3 real shoots, all happend to not be paying gigs, the non real, were paying gigs, but point and shoot, no art attached :)

Barry's book... Great, So much info.... Hard to cram it in my brain. hopefully I can becoming as good at this as N8ture and Justyn, Justin, Justin, and I am sure there is another Justin out there, and Drew.* (* Not in any order and just to throw out a couple names)

Your footage brings back old memories . I went to aero school at same airport and had the privilege to film a King air doing a belly landing in the winter with no wheels at night. got in trouble for jumping the fence then the feds took the footage for investigation.

see you could have had a Tape in the deck, and a P2 card, and when they wanted the tape for invesagation, they could have watched you take the tape out, and hand it to them, the whole time, REAL footy is on the P2:) LOL

Keeping a tape in the camera for security to confiscate.. but really rolling on the P2 is a brilliant idea! The very first night I have the HVX, I got kicked out of a carnival for shooting. The guys asked for the tape and I had the pleasure of telling him there wasn't one... Man, the look on his face was priceless.. He then asked for the P2 card and I told him.. he'd either have to fight me for it, or give me 750 bucks right then and there... I think it helped that I was wearing my kungfu school t-shirt....

Surjones... Next shoot would be to get in the cockpit and shoot from behind the pilot's head. A friend of mine got to do that in an F-16 and the footie was unbelievable.... Have HVX... willing to fly?

I usually dont go out without an small enoutrage. Not to mention, You have the right to be there shooting. It is a public event on County grounds. UNLESS you were crossing the lins ad obstructing. I think calling and talking to your local Park and recreations department might help next time. Ask what the laws are. I like to be sneaky as well. 100% of the Time they have Cops there to serve and protect us. If so maybe you should go up to the Cop and say, Hey we are testing out our new camera, and was wondering if you did not mind us filming you really quick showing the safeness of a carnival. 95% legal, 5% guerilla.

Justyn:
I am going back to get some more footy tonight maybe, and since my presence has been made, now I think people might feel a little more confortable. I used to fly all the time, small planes, differnt names. never thought about doing video, only stills. I have called the Helocopter companies, and I am going to find someone who can take me up I will se if he will let me float from the front seat to the back. The only I am bugging on is having to shoot out flexy glass, or glass :)

As for my decoy idea. I love to think of that stuff. I never have issues but if I do, I want to have pre-measures :)

Omg.

Dude this is one of my favorite songs. LoL. This remix is so underground.

Love it! Great footage!

LOL I cant tell if you are being facetious or not. I loved "Garden State" and the songs was in there, so I stumbled on the remix and liked it better, I was actually sick of the acustic version that skittles did.

but thanks for the comments. (if it was sincere)

Nah I wasn't. Garden State publicized it.

But it really is one of my favorite songs. =DDDD

okay well since no one really weighed in on the black crushing, the shot with Master P at -12 was the plane that flies foward than backwards
