A free 30-day trial version for version 4 of EDIUS NLE Software is now available at the Canopus Web site.

This is a fully-functional demo that will let you test every single feature of the current incarnations of EDIUS Pro and EDIUS Broadcast (so yes, it lets you use XDCAM/P2/VariCam).

Find it here (you'll need to login into the site first):

I downloaded, but can't import .mxf files. When I click Capture>P2 Select I get an error message:

The system requirement is illegal. Unable to start.

I did install the one from the japanese server before, for the guys who downloaded it from the com server: are ther the dvcpro settings in the beginning?

Which is the version number?-4.0 or 4.01??

Its a pitty if they keep this demo, i was hoping that the trial version on the .com site(wasnt available when i downloaded mine) would be working with p2 and dvcpro, but it looks like they put up the same version like on japanese server..bad!!

GO BHIGA GOOO!

The download is for the EDIUS PRO Version only. Not the BROADCAST Version, that supports DVCPRO50, DVCPRO HD and DVCPRO HD on P2.

I've just tested my production version without dongle and got the same error. It seems that the P2/DCVPRO HD functionality is currently not released. In this case Canopus is not keeping their promises. :(

Sorry folks - the folks in Japan haven't provided us with a trial including the Broadcast features yet... So the trial text that's currently up will be fixed shortly.

Hang in there, we want a trial with Broadcast features too.

We would love to see the Trial fixed, and not the text on the homepage..LOL..thanks so much for your help BHIGA, great to know someone is fighting for us, hope the japanese hear youuuu!

Thanks Brandon, my problem is that I installed the version 3 demo when it didn't support P2 and then when a Broadcast demo came out I couldn't try it because I had already tried Pro. After contacting Canopus they said the only thing I could do would be to reformat my hdd! So... I waited for version 4 to demo P2 and DVCproHD functionality. Seeing that the Demo was out with "support for P2" I eagerly downloaded and installed. Now my days are counting down and if a Broadcast demo is not out within 28 days I will not be able to try at all??

for_mlove: I had the same experience and am stuck with the same problem. Very frustrating. Hopefully Canopus can do something to make it right and help us out.

I noticed that the system requirements for version 4 mention a USB security key, but don't mention needing an internet connection for activation. Is there a chance they've dropped the activation part on the new version? Having spent a decent amount of time on the Canopus forums, it seems that there were many, many issues with the activation system on version 3.

I'll buy Edius Broadcast 4 in a heartbeat if it doesn't have Product Activation...

I assumed as much, but in version 3, the regular Edius package requires activation, and then you just use the dongle to activate the Broadcast features. I'm just wondering if the standard package dropped activation. I can't find any evidence either way. I suppose we'll know when the full version is available...

I read this...

I read this...

On download page i read this:

Limitations:
30-day usage period
EDIUS Broadcast features (i.e. DVCPRO, P2, XDCAM) not included
Inscriber TitleMotion Pro for EDIUS not included

No P2 support in this demo ? :(

They've changed the text after finding out that the P2 support wasn't included in the trial version provided by Canopus Japan. Being optimistic I guess that we'll have it within a short time.
bhiga - am I right?
