does the sony z1 focus / zoom numbers like dvx?

hi All,

I am used to using the dvx100 and really appreciate the focus and zoom numbers on the panasonics as I always use manual.
But the z1 has a distance meter reading for focus - can this be changed to a 0-99 number reading.
Does the camera have a zoom number reading?

No, it doesn't. The Z1 will give you readings in 1.2 m-infinity, but it's not as precise as the DVX.

Yes, it can display simultaneously in numbers, zoom amount ( eg Z99), iris as e.g (F2.8), focus distance (e.g 2.6m), db gain (e.g 9dB), shutter speed (e.g 60), battery remaining time in minutes, along with some other infrormation.

AND, it has the best LCD screen on an HDV camera (viewable in direct sunlight, higher resolution etc)!

One small caveat, the Z1's focus number doesn't stay on the screen like the DVX. And I'll second the LCD--excellent! You can use a hoodman or something like that to keep the sunlight out. And best of all, you can calibrate it!
