SD Scene files

Why in the manual does it say... "You can save up to four scene file settings or other settings as files on an SD memory card, and you can also load them from the card." pg 56

I have yet to buy an sd memory card but am wondering....does this mean I can only put 4 customized scene files on the sd card? I was hoping to build a nice arsenal of looks and styles. Could someone explain the amount of scene files allowed on an sd card while being able to be downloaded to the hvx. If you can only put 4 on a card, should I buy many small sd cards instead of one big one?

Thanks in advance

Each scene file consists of 6 scenes. So, you really have 24 settings to choose from.
The hardest part is keeping track of all of them. :)
I made a little laminated sheet with each sets settings so I can load in what I want and know what those 6 scene settings are for each set.

Kevin,
On your laminated sheets do you have images that remind you how each scene setting impacts your video or are you just working off memory? I'm thinking combining settings with images like Barry has in his HVX book.

Thanks n8ture, it seems you are always there to help! :)
I am still a bit confused, but I think I'll be able to figure it out when I get ahold of an sd card. Glad to hear I can get 24 presets at my disposal.

Jim,
That's a great idea to have images on the laminated sheet for reference. Why didn't I think of that? :)
Maybe next weekend I'll set up a scene and shoot each setting and then print out a master sheet.
Right now I'm just going off of memory.
I try and keep things consistent from set to set.
For instance, the "Wildlife" set, the framerate goes up with the number. So, #1 is at 24fps and #2 is at 60.

The "People" set is the same way.
I try and have everything increase as the number goes up.

I hope I've shot enough that by looking at the sheet and can kind of have an idea of what it will look like. But I'm definitely adding the images to the sheet!

Regarding Prodigy's question of card size:

Scene files are tiny, text files. So you don't need a big SD card. The SD card may be useful for uploading P2 driver updates, but that is the only reason I can think of to get something "larger". BTW, larger is a moving target. I have a 128MB SD card and it holds what I need it to. I think 128MB is small by today's standards.

128MB is way more than enough. They're just little text files.
I wouldn't think an update file would be very big. Course, what the heck do I know. :-)

Its almost cheaper just to get a 512 or 1gb card. 128 cards are like 15, 512s are like 18, and 1 gb cards are around 25, might as well get atleast a 1 gigger IMO. Can put some songs on it too! :)

Could you share your scene files with us?

Thanks:)

I use an older 8mb card - got it off ebay for $3 including shipping. The case I keep it in cost more than the actual card.
