So i just recorded an entire 45 minutes of footage and im about to start capturing in premiere when i notice the TC has 30 frames instead of 24 frames. Im like wtf, dam premiere pro. But then i went back and checked the camera and it seems that the actuall camera recorded it in 24p format but with 30 frames per second.

I double checked my wheel and it was set for 24p and it is set on the default settings. Im even using a brand new blank tape.

If anyone can explain to me why this is happening that would help out enormously.

Time go edit 30p footage on a 24p timeline. YEA RENDERING!!!

Thanks,
Kyle

If you have to render it when dropped into the timeline, something is wrong.

Did you shoot at F5 or F6? F5 is 24p, but edits on a 30fps timeline, where as F6 is 24PA and edits on an actual 24fps timeline.

Though Premiere Pro 2.0 will handle either pulldown in 24p.

(Also, don't refer to the scene file stops as being one pulldown or the other. They can be changed to anything and they're not the same thing.)

Yeah... I just assumed he was using standard settings.

Well this is wierd, im looking over some past tapes shot in 24p on a dvx100a and it appears they were shot at 23.976 as well. Really wierd since i almost always check TC in premiere for wierd glitches like this.

When i did end up importing into premiere it formated it correctly at 23.976.

I recorded on the F5 setting and edited on a 24p timeline.

Footage is always recorded to tape as 60i (29.97). You are probably viewing those files' properties in a 24p project in Premiere, and it's telling you that they're 23.976 because Premiere removed the pulldown.
