Great news! Aram is through he's now a full on cyborg! Seriously though, this is really good news. Aram is an awesome guy and I wish him a speedy recovery.

Hey, ya'll, I know how happy it's going to make Aram when I print out all these greetings and wishes and rhymes to take to him in the hospital. I got no rhymes tonight, just a straight-up thanks to each and every one of you.

His surgery went well but was very long -- about 8 hours... I just got home from the hospital. He's not in a private room so I was supposed to leave much earlier but I stayed and stayed, hoping they'd just forget about me, but then they had security come and kindly toss me out onto 17th Street... Anyway, he was on a pretty heavy Dilaudin high when I left, trying to talk but falling asleep mid-sentence most of the time...

I gotta say, I saw the X-Rays and his new joints look pretty cool. It was not, by the way, a total hip replacement but rather a newly approved procedure (new in the U.S. -- they've been doing it in Europe for about 10 years) called bone resurfacing. It's less extreme than a total hip replacement. Anyway, the line that came to mind when I saw the X-Rays was "the man with the four-way hips."

Thanks again, everyone. I'll post another update when I get home tomorrow.
