White Line on Marshall Monitor

Hi I just recieved my Marshall V-R70P-HDA Monitor and noticed a white line at the left hand side of the Monitor. It seems to be at the point the screen meets the edge of the unit. Should I be worried about this ?

Hmmm, I think you might have a bum monitor. I'd send it back for a new one. My first Marshall had a flicker problem. It was replaced immediately.

Do you see the line when displaying a 4:3 image?
I've seen this on a couple different V-R70P-HDA monitors.

I've just gotten an RMA from Marshall for my new V-R70P-HDA. Hi-def output into its component inputs from either my GY-HD100U or BR-HD50 is causing (I assume) horizontal "pops" at various heights across the screen. Oddly enough, when I just output bars generated by the BR-HD50 deck, this doesn't happen. The camera output causes these pops, as does output from the deck using material taped by the camera, but SMPTE bars generated by FCP and recorded to tape on the deck causes them, too, so I don't think it's simply the camera causing the problem. I'm taking camera, deck and monitor in for them to look at. Anyone have any other experience with a problem like this?

Thanks

Just got mine the other day and I noticed the hits as well. They were random and I couldn't duplicate them by moving cables or anything. I was gonna post about it today. I had component out from the HVX. I dind't try any of the other outputs.

I'm sending it down today and if they can't find a problem I'll take my camera and deck down to check it all out. I tried several cables and the problem persists.:crybaby:

Yep, mine flickers allot too. I guess I should see about sending it back. It's enough to be annoying.
Sent them an email but never heard back from them.

Just got mine. I have the flickering issue too. Also, my "tint" doesn't seem to do anything?! According to the color bars it's accurate, though. Anybody have this issue?

Though the image is nice, the signal seems "weak". Like I'm getting analog over the air TV reception.

I also noticed that when shooting 720p, outputing 1080i (opposed to 720p) gets me the best picture. Odd...

Awaiting word on flicker

Awaiting word on flicker

I've sent the unit in and am awaiting word. If Marshall can't find a problem with it I'll take my camera and deck in and see if we can sort it out. Are your flicker problems happening with sources other than JVC? Any flicker on composite or S input? SD component?

Hi Guys ! I got my unit from Nebtek with the Panasonic battery plate and must say they have tried to to everything possible to solve the white line problem. From my contacts with them Rob informed me that the white line is to do with the pixel offset and does not affect the recorded image. For my part I have not seen any sign of it in my recorded footage. Jonk your problem seems to be different from mine so I think you are right to return the unit. In saying that I only find the Marshall good for focusing and as an onboard monitor, the issues raised in connection to tint and colour bars I have found to be the true and I'm using component input. For critical colour monitoring I would not recommend the Marshall but rather the Panasonic 17' . I guess in the end of the day the extra resolution over the onboard LCD is worth the price but just about, it's still a heck of a lot of money to have to spend on a basic focusing unit and one I would not have bought if I could have avoided it.

robot909, do you mean component inputs?

Nebtek said I might have something wrong with my monitor if I can't see a tint adjustment. can anyone else verify that tint isn't supposed to work with the component inputs?

thanks

Thanks, I should probably read manuals more often...

I still have the occasional flickering. Somtimes it's really bad. Sometimes it doesn't show up at all. And according to this thread it's not an isolated problem.

Flicker problem fixed

Flicker problem fixed

I sent my monitor back to Marshall and they upgraded the software (must be ROM) to handle the kind of hi-def signal my JVC deck and camera are outputting through component outs. Not sure how that signal's different from the one the monitor was originally designed to ingest but indeed the flicker is gone. I now have a thin white line, though, down the right hand side of my screen. Haven't checked to see if it's there with any other input. I'll talk to Marshall about it. If you're having a problem with your monitor, call Marshall and talk to Bernie.
