help..pulling my hair out researching a buy

I've been researching for weeks...and can't decide.

I'm from Canada...so if i buy from a US store the warranty is no good to me?...neither is the rebate?...so does it make a difference if I buy an import or the USA version?...Right now..buying in Canada for a 100B would cost about 4k-5k

I've seen an import at an online store with fantastic ratings, (showed up in the panasonic's dealer locator list as well) for $2599.00...shuold I buy it?

I'm really starting to get frustrated...its so f-ing hard to buy this camera.

umm, to save $1500.00 dollars? who cares about the rebate? and you can call an insurance company to get it insured instead of getting the warranty if it means that much to ya. problem solved.

starting a post with "ummmm" always sounds like an educated opinion, i should trust...
i think u missed my point.
i was wondering if buying the import would be 'the way to go' in my situation...seeing as the warranty and rebate are useless to me anyway. The camera comes with everything else..the mic holder, dvd, book etc...

A new DVX100B for $2599? That sounds extraordinarily fishy. That's about $800 less than any other reputable store is selling it.

Is it used? B-stock? A customer return?

Wow.
A wise man once said, "He who scatters ellipses (improperly) and ignores the rules of capitalization with reckless abandon should not throw rocks at someone who begins his sentence with an "um" but is otherwise trying to be helpful."

I think it was Lao Tzu, or someone like that.

his reply just sounded a little sarcastic to me...
Why can't i get a str8 answer?
It is new, but it's an import, and it says it's an import and they also sell a USA one for regular price.
What i'm getting at is:..is there any difference between an import and a USA home-grown?...

It depends on how honest the company is. You could find yourself with an "import" with japanese menus.

It "Sounded" sarcastic? Wow, so you can actually HEAR the difference between help and sarcasm in a message made of text? (this was me being sarcastic)
This is the same problem most people have, they go by the tone in their head, frustration or anger, then come to any conclusion regardless of doubt.
The following is not sarcasm, even though i'm sure it will be regarded as such: this isn't that kind of forum for the most part... people here will give an arm to help a member in need.

In regards to your question, why not post the website name that is selling the camera, if someone here has dealt with it and it isnt legit, it wont matter one way or the other if it says import or usa on it.

Ok, so I just got home and spent an hour researching these guys. They seem pretty good, but in some areas they seem too good to be true. They say they've been around for 10 years, yet have no record on BBB. Almost 100% good feedback, yet no one here is posting how good they are. I called them up, didnt try to bait and switch me, I canceled the order early and I wasnt given a hard time. I wanted to know more about the DVX100 "import" and the agent gave me a an email to send my querries to, and I just asked them to difine "import".
All i can say is no matter what I'd be very careful.
If you want a used one let me knowm i'm selling mine for $1900us + s&h
good luck

umm, I wasn't being sarcastic at all. I was just interpreting your initial question to mean, should I get a camera with a warranty or without a warranty and save $1500.00 bucks.

To the rest, thank you kindly for the defense of me and the forum. Most everybody here is ABOVE and BEYOND helpful.

Rick
