I need to buy a 35mm adapter and I have put together a list of the ones I could find. Many of these adapters have been thoroughly discussed in other threads, but I haven't found a list like this one anywhere. Feel free to add comments or information for any of the adapters, prices should include everything needed for use with HVX200:
1. Kinomatik Movietube
http://www.movietube.com/index2.php
price: 9500$
heavy, robust piece, looks like something from a medical lab, the price makes it suitable for commercial purposes only
2. P+S Technik Mini35
http://www.pstechnik.de/en/digitalfilm-mini35.php
price: >8000$
lightloss due to upright image, good image quality, the price makes it suitable for commercial purposes only
3. El Da Vinci digi35
http://www.digi35.co.uk
price: 1700$
not out yet, due for September, uses static glass, little information on their site
4. SGPro
http://www.sgpro.co.uk/pages/home/homeframeset.html
price: I would like to know
website currently not working properly, only dvx100 footage
5. Redrock M2
http://www.redrockmicro.com
price: 1300$ (for still camera lens adapter)
recommended by most people on this forum. Long delivery times. Image upside down, but little lightloss.
6. Cinvate brevis35
http://www.cinevate.com
price: 1130$ (with rails)
compact, half pound weight
7. Cinemek G35
http://www.cinemek.com
price: about 900$
they take preorders, but list is currently full
8. Go-35
http://www.go-35.com
no information except it's a static solution
9.Indie35
http://www.indie35.com
confusing website, but they sell bundles including the lens to avoid compatabilty issues
10. Letus 35
http://www.letus35.com
price: 470$ incl. shipping
uses vibrating ground glass. weighs half pound, no supporting rods needed. Some issues with this adapter have been discussed on this forum. There is a version with an upright image, but of course with lightloss
The first two are out of my price range. I have seen actual HVX200 footage only from the Letus35 and the Redrock M2. I understand a shootout is coming up in August, I just might wait for the results, but in the meantime I would be thankful for useful additions to this list.
So far it seems the M2, the brevis, the Cinemek and the letus come in question, with the letus obviously being the most affordable one, but if the picture quality or light loss or ease of use or stability of any other is significantly superior, I'll take that one.
