I’ve learned much from DVXuser.com and would like to contribute to the community.

Tutorial on BitTorrent-
Download a “client,” a piece of software that hosts .torrent files on your computer:
These are good and spyware free.
http://bitcomet.com/doc/download.htm (this client will be the example)
azureus.sourceforge.net/
To Download a file:
1. Have plenty of disk space and a stable internet connection
2. Install client software (see above)
3. Click on a torrent file (i.e. the Doom!!!.iso.torrent), associate it to a client like BitComet. Some clients ask you to pick a location to “save as…” choose a proper place. Now the original file should start to download. You can see the file added as a new task in BitComet. It might take some time to for the download to speed up.
4. Find the file when it’s finished. Some files may be torrented in a compressed format, un-compress before using.
5. Continue to “seed,” up-load the file for others (it’s the polite thing).
Note-
* You may need VLC player to view some media files: http://videolan.org/vlc/
* Download at your own risk, you are potentially labile for any copyright violations if you share or upload protected material. Though many items are fair use or non-restricted.
To Upload:
Definition- “tracker,” is a website that “host” Torrent links, you should have a tracker here are good ones:
www.rebeltorrent.net/ (login required, easy and worth it)
List of open trackers (not needing logins) http://thebeehive.info/p/tlist.htm
1. Have stable, a high-speed internet connection
2. Install a client
3. Open the client--the following directions are for BitComet only, other clients are slightly different.
4. Start by pressing the “create torrent” button or go File>Create torrent.
5. Select the file to upload (Source file)—you may wish to compress it first. If it is a single file you must have the "Single file" option selected, if multiple, then have "directory –multiple files" selected.
6. Browse and select the folder or file you want share.
7. IMPORTANT: In the field with the title tracker server and DHT network node list, Add an announce address: i.e. http://rebeltorrent.net/announce.php (you may use others)
8. Press OK and wait for the client to create the torrent file. The time it takes varies on the size of the file. The file should then appear as a new task in Bitcomet.
9. Go the tracker’s upload page (i.e. rebeltorrent.net/upload.php) and upload the small torrent file (if you don’t remember where you saved the torrent file you can right click on the task in BitComet and go “Save torrent as…” and then save it where you can easily find it). Add any other information as you see fit.
10. Start sharing by selecting the torrent and press the button “Start.” Once the tracker sees that you are seeding then the torrent will appear and others can start to download.
11. you may copy the torrent url and post it anywhere you’d like, like here: the Doom!!!.iso.torrent
The file is an .iso, a DVD image. An ISO is a perfect replication of a DVD or CD in virtual form, you may burn an ISO to a CD or DVD, or even watch them virtually on your computer with a virtual disk drive:

neato!
Last idea. We should create an area within DVXuser to host and organize by genre the clips and movies we want to share.
Thank you for everything!
There is need for an economical means for the sharing of large files and hi-rez clips, even feature length movies. Rather tieing up a single, expensive host server when individuals or groups would like to host/share a clip… they should use BitTorrent.(For more information- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent and BitTorrent Economics Paper)

My movie the Doom!!! An Absurdly Subtle Story is a two part short I created with no guidance beyond the my own tenacity and the skills I learned here at DVXuser.com… It’s well done, but also a truly Indie-Indie moviemaking. I highly recommend watching it if you enjoy watching the learning process of a filmmaker who has no idea what he’s doing. Watch if you enjoy observing how a reflective filmmaker uses music, cinematography and editing. Watch if you like entertaining though VERY subtle storylines. The file is an .iso, a DVD image.
