Oldboy

I love that one continuous shot when he takes on all the thugs in the hallway.

INCREDIBLE.

This Chan Woo-Park has some ridiculous shot comp. skills.

gave me goose bumps that shot.. it was so ****ing poetic and amazing how it just pulled you into it without a cut and in wide. fantastic.

Shot to shot, Chan Woo-Park is may favorite for overall composition.
The guy has reached a point that few others can even see.

took them 3 days to get that shot right.

tell us more spidey.. got any other info on this film?

im not surprised it took 3 days.. imagine trying to put that together.. ****inghell..

I instantly fell in love with this movie. It was such an emotionally-involved and cathartic experience for me. This movie accomplishes what many modern day movies fail at -- leaving a lasting impression on the audience, one that will stay with them their entire lives.

I also enjoyed Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance as it shows Chan Wook-park's commitment to visual storytelling. Many movies now a days use too much voice over and dialogue to explain things that should be shown visually.

I love his trademark ariel bird's eye shots.

I recently saw Lady Vengeance at the Angelika, and although it is still a good film, it was probably my least favorite of the Vegeance trilogy.

I'm really afraid of the American remake of Oldboy. Even though it's done by Justin Lin (Better Luck Tomorrow), I think there really isn't a way to improve upon this film. It's perfect just the way it is.

Oh, and you should definitley check out the film commentary track on the Oldboy DVD. I was pleasantly surprised that it came with English subtitles!!! I soaked up all that goodness like a sponge!

well what would you like to know about it, this is my fav film director and my fav film.

Didnt he do the squid a few times...? That last one really struggled, its the only thing in cinema thats shocked me in the last five years. Its a truly stunning movie, even though I do have soft spots for Audition and Battle Royal. The team on OldBoy looked like an amazing bunch to work with, inspiring...good UK DVD extras too!

i would have really liked to see this movie in the cinema rather than on dvd. it is one of those 'must see on the big screen' flicks.

Alright, for those of you who liked Oldboy and the vengence trilogy,. Iv'e got a few more titles to add for your viewing pleasure.
Memoirs of murder
A bittersweet life (already mentioned once)
Yesterday

Also in a different vein here are a few other great Korean/asian movies.
A tale of two sisters
Inugami
Wishing stairs
Legend of the evil lake

All of which I own and love, I have many other great recommendations just ask.

I was smart enough to catch oldboy when it was playing at 42nd street.

Seeing it on the big screen blew me away.

You think that tracking shot for the hallway looks good on your tv?
