I shot this entirely by myself one day with this female artist.

I am very proud of this video because it cost me 175.00 and most of that was the cost to process the super 8mm film

I shot it, directed it, produced it, and edited

sort of an odd accomplishment....and I like the video

what do you guys think......be hard on it...I enjoy criticism....plus that way I can talk all tough back...lol

i love the video bro. that super 8 look is so hot. where can i buy a camera like that.

That was very good. You should be proud. I was wondering about splicing some 8mm footage into a project. I don't have a super 8mm camera and I have no idea how to get something to edit it on and then digitize it. Good work on the video. I always thought the toughest part of making a music video was synching up the audio.

well youtube is a bit pixilated....so not sure if you could tell but only the flashback memories were super 8mm. all the rest was dvx and syncing dvx is easy for me now

in terms of shooting super8mm and all that...you can totally buy a super 8mm camera off ebay super cheap....then you could just buy a super 8mm projector and project it on a white wall and shot the film onto your dvx...which is what I did...if you want better quality you should go to telecine with it at Pro8mm or Spectra......that is expensive...I like the crappy look of super 8mm so shooting it off a wall to me works just fine...find a decent super8mm projector......

syncing super8mm I found to be a lot harder....my next video I tried to sync super8mm...if I had that to do over again...i'm not sure what I would do....it was a *****

Its funny you should say that, because before even reading this comment I watched the vid and thought it was being projected then recorded (the flashbacks). That would be my only criticism. But its not super noticeable. Very well put together video!

I would suggest just some Color Manipulation.
The Music Video has that pale video look... it might be nicer if you would cahnge it a bit and make it blend more with the 8mm footage. It doesn't have to completely blend... but it's a hard contrast. :)

it really doesn't cost that much to have it professionaly transfered and it does make a world of difference.

should have shot the entire thing on 8mm!!! It looks so much better... sync might get off... but hey you dont have to hold on the shot for more than 2 secs anyhow... But then again, it all boils down to $$$...

Well.. in my opinion.. i think it's better to leave those segments in 8mm and the rest on video. I think if you would have done the entire thing on 8mm then it would look kind of crappy. I don't think the quality of 8mm is that great. 16mm is another story. That is my personal opinion.
I would just tweak the colors in the video and that is it. :)

Does your 8mm camera shoot 18fps or 24pfs???

I have an 8mm camera and have actually shot quite a bit with it.. i like it, but the kodachrome is now discontinuted, and the right ASA is hard to find in other types. It also shoots 18fps so dvx transfer results in a lot of strobing among other problems.
