Focus Friction: Scrape Sound?

This might be a silly "newbie" question, or perhaps I need to head back to AbelCineTech for an adjustment:

I received my new 100B and I'm already noticing a subtle scraping sound -- it feels like sandy friction -- when I turn the focus ring. There is no difficulty whatsoever actually turning the ring, but if I keep turning it I eventually hear that sound and feel that light friction. Like something delicately grinding something else...

Ideas?

There shouldn't be any noise when turning the focus ring. Mine did that a while ago (used 100E), and was hard to turn too, but has stopped bugging now...

I'd say head back to Abel. :)

I thought it could have been the lens hood screwed on too tightly, but alas, the sound and friction persist, even with the hood removed.

If there are any other ideas, I'd love to hear 'em. Thanks!

Sorry to bring this thing back up, but I called Abel and they said the focus ring doesn't actually affect the focus (it's a chip thing) and the scrape sound is not a problem.

Can anybody else confirm that their focus ring, when turned a certain number of degrees in either direction, makes this scrape noise? Thanks!
