30 sec World Cup spot

My brother had to do a spot for his advertising college class. He asked me if could give him a hand and I ended doing almost everything. It´s about a brazilian kind of soda called guarana, made with a fruit from amazonia with the same name, guarana. It had to be a spot for the world cup, showing the passion of the brazilians for the soccer. We didn´t have any time and NO PRODUCTION RESOURCES AT ALL! He only told me: my friends will get you at 03:00pm and we´ll have to find a place and record EVERYTHING until 06:00pm. I told him to, please, f*** off because that was completely impossible. Anyway, I did the thing.

This was my first experience with the Z1. It arrived 1 day before. I used PAL mode and CF25. Didn´t capture it HDV. Made the downconversion through the camera.

The lighting is basically a flex fill holded by a friend of mine that was completely drunk at the time. The editing took some 30 minutes only, because my brother had a deadline. That´s why the CC is almost zero. Sorry for the BAAAAAD compression that ruined even more! Sorry for no subtitles too. Who speaks spanish can understand some words. Portuguese is very similar.

We were so lucky the sun was beautiful on that day. Most of the shots were made around 04:30 and 05:30 pm, when it was going down very fast and with a nice color. It was the perfect backlight.

the shot looks great!! how did you get the colors so saturated? was that done in post? also, what were settings on the camera, itself? nice job.

Thanks! I can´t remember exactly the settings. Saturation was a little higher on camera. The rest came with the curves. The light was beautiful and there´s a lot of colors too. It helped a lot.

Don´t forget the music. It´s Jorge Ben, a genius of brazilian music. You should look for it!

DC, edited on premiere. A friend of mine finished a documentary recently and used Nattress. The CC was FANTASTIC! I´ll post the trailer soon.

Rawfa, can´t remember the camera settings since it was the first time i used. I mean, used the Z1. But there it´s nothing special, I assure. The color correction was basically CURVES and a little saturation increase. I´m not a CC guy, but I´ll learn it!

With the story you told I was expecting to see a piece of **** but I was pleasantly surprised. You've got talent man! If that's 3 and half hours work I'd love to see 3 weeks or 3 months!
