Fireworks and Balloon Glow Footage

Every year, my town puts on a two week Freedom Festival leading up to the 4th of July. From concerts to Dragon boat races every day has some new event.

I was able to check out a couple of these events with the HVX.

The first was a balloon glow on the front lawn of a historic mansion. The second was fireworks after a stock car race.

Anyway, the HVX did great in the low light. The raw footage looks great. The compression has introduced noise that doesn't exist on the original.

I was jamming to Rammstein this afternoon and it just seemed to fit. :)

The ballons looked like they were filmed in 60i and I wasn't really feeling that part with the music. But the second half of the clip with the fireworks the music fit rather well and it looked amazing. Good job man.
 
I loved the fireworks, but I would have preferred something classical to go along with it.

Good job of matching the bursts with the musical accents, though.
 
Yeah, I played around with some classical music early in the day but then I started jamming to Rammstein and that's all she wrote. :)
 
Setting for the fireworks were 60fps and 720pn.
Shutter speed was 1/24
Detail Level 0
Detail Coring +7
Chroma Level +2
Master Ped -4
Cine-Like Matrix

I shot some more fireworks last night that look just as good or better.
It's nice having a town that has a two week 4th of July celebration. :)
It gives me time to weak the settings.

Any recommendations to tweak them a little more?

The big display is coming up on the 4th. So, I'd like to be on top of my game for that one.

They sync the fireworks to classical music so maybe the next batch will be a classical rendition. :)

I hope you'll post the results of that. I won't have my HVX200 until after the 4th, so I'll be sitting this one out. :crybaby:

awesome fireworks... They put on quite a show. I'm up in NH for the 4th and tempted to go to Boston with the HVX... man that would look awesome...

Yeah, I just saw on our local news a great fireworks display going on at Mt. Rushmore. Wish I could have made that one. :)

I shot some more fireworks the other day that I may recut the video to add them. It was a really good display.
Hoping to get a good spot for tomorrows in Cedar Rapids.

Not much going on in the wilderness. All the babies are in that gangly stage and the adults look ratty in their summer coats.

Might see about a Fall trip to Alaska. Course my wife and my business partner are both pushing for Hawaii. :)
