HVX200 slomo direct to fcp

i have just got an hvx200, but there is a wait for the p2 card i ordered with it
does anyone know if it is possible to use the variable framerate effects, e.g. slomo, direct to a mac using fcp - without using a p2 card. have scoured the forums, but can't find can't find any info, so appologies if this has been addressed elswhere

why couldn't he just shoot 60p to his harddrive via firewire?

You can, and it works just fine. FCP knows to strip out the duplicate frames upon capture.

thanks tom and barry, sorry if i seem a bit dense - but i don't quite understand how i would do this

once i put the cam into 60p (would be 50p for me i guess as i have a pal camera) how would i get it to record direct to disk using a regular firewire drive. don't need something like a firestore to record to?

You can record to and external drive with a powerbook via firewire / FCP.

the thing i don't understand is: how do i record when there is no p2 card in the hvx, and i am just using 'capture now' in fcp?

how does the camera do the overcrank thing?

The wait for 8GB P2 Cards is over. We have inventory and if your dealer doesn't they can get them from us easily.

Now, an announcement that Panasonic where chopping the 8gb cards price in half would be a REAL announcement!

Got my HVX on Tuesday and am having to struggle by on 1 4gb card..... guess I should have worked harder at school!
