Barrys Book Now Shipping!

So we have to wait about two weeks, before the first books get shipped?

Barry is not home, he just arrived in NZ. He will not be back for I believe 2 weeks.
Jan

Ah, yes, I had his posting not exactly in mind.

Worth every cent!

The amount of practical and helpful experience that Barry has about the HVX is so valuable. You cannot capture everything from a class and you cannot remember everything you learn in a class and Yes I took as much notes as I could. Wouldn't be nice to have a book to capture hours and hours worth of lecture and demonstration for the HVX? How much are you willing to pay for this?

Orders will be shipped way earlier than two weeks! I have people in place who will ship the orders, I just have to organize and sort through and make a list and fax it over, and account for the day and time difference, etc. They'll go out very, very soon!

As for other territories choosing to offer it as a freebie/bonus, that's up to each territory. I am open to making a similar deal with other territories (as, for example, New Zealand has chosen to buy some and give them away to the people attending their series of HVX202 seminars).

The big news here, I think, is that Jan has chosen to give these away for free to her customers, including retroactively. Anyone who's bought an HVX in the US, from an authorized dealer, at any time since it was launched, is entitled to a free copy. That's really cool of her to do!

Really?
To anybody in the US who's bought a camera from a Panasonic dealer?
How will that work?

Hi,

I wouldn't necessarily call it a Rebate Program, as it is not really a Rebate Program. It is a reward for purchasing an Authorized US product and taking the time to register the product. The website will go up shortly and then once that happens, it will be shipped within a week of the registration. We are using a different vendor than the one on the DVXBook/rebate, since there is no money involved. We do the same thing on our AJ-SDX900 Goodman's Guide.

So just know that it is in process.

Best,

Jan

If I already registered the camera can I still get the book for free?

I just ordered mine last night. It will be worth the money to get it soon.
Looks like I will have one to sell.

This book will most likely hold its value better than a Toyota.

Ditto that my friend.
The goodwill of that instills further desire in us users to brag to potential customers. I know I've bragged A LOT on other forums about Panasonic and the versatile HVX200.
Oh, and you too Barry.:dankk2:

Barry's book at last!!

i dont even own a HVX...(HD100ed) is there anything generic in the book for me? like HD workflows, Colorspace, Codecs, Editing, Monitors, HDisk Recording...

Yes, free to anyone who has bought from an AUTHORIZED dealer. So no Newegg or Costco or Profeel or Buydig purchases will count, but those from authorized dealers (like Abel Cine, spec-comm, promedia, B&H, EVS, roscor, lerro, etc) will all count.

I'm not sure of the exact program details but I believe there will be a web page on the panasonic site where you register your serial number and pertinent information, date of purchase and where from etc, and then they'll send it on out to you.

It says that they are being shipped te 27th. I am sure also we would be some sort of tracking :)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH.

Okay, exactly what I didn't want to have happen, has happened. The announcement has gone up before the books are actually in my possession at my North Carolina address.

Sigh.

The ones that were express-shipped to New Zealand have arrived, and when I got confirmation of that, I figured that it was safe to open the orders. But the ones being trucked into NC haven't shown up yet. So they can't be shipped out yet.

I apologize for jumping the gun, this is exactly the type of situation I wanted to avoid.

It's difficult to track this because I'm 17 hours away so figuring out stuff and tracking it is not so easy right now. I should have tracking info and an estimated final arrival date very soon.

In the meantime, because of this mistake, I'm upgrading all pre-orders to express mail shipping. For anyone who has already placed an order, I'll send it out via USPS overnight Express Mail delivery service. The day they arrive at my place, you'll all have your orders the next day (or, well, I should say, you'll have them as quickly as express mail will deliver them! For some people that will mean second-day depending on where in the US you are etc.)

I apologize for this happening, I thought I was on safe ground, but the trip out of the country threw a monkey wrench in my ability to verify things. It should only be a couple of more days though...

Sorry guys. But they will be sent out the minute they arrive at my place.

What about Canadian dealer ?
Panasonic Canada is a different company than Panasonic USA (as is Panasonic Europe, Panasonic NZ, Panasonic Australia, etc). The free book deal is coming from Panasonic USA and is only for authorized dealers of Panasonic USA.

Panasonic NZ is also giving out free copies as part of the training seminar series I'm currently doing down here.

Well, all that stuff is covered (not monitors really but all the rest) but it's all pretty much HVX-oriented. It is "The HVX Book", so it's all designed around and talking about that particular product.

What about international pre-orders, like mine, from Switzerland? I personally don't need UPS delivery, as the UPS van tends to show up when we are having lunch. If I get the book after five or so days after you get to send it out, I'm happy with that.

You will need to register your camera on the HVX Book Site when it goes up which will be in a week or so. I will post here when the site goes up so if you visit here often then you will not likely miss it.

Best,

Jan

I'd suggest that anyone who owns or rents an HVX get their hands on Barry's book! Whether you're a longtime pro or just progressing into professional production you can use it to fast-track your learning curve. I haven't seen the book yet, but knowing how thorough his DVX book was, and having known Barry's work for sometime, I'd guess it will be thorough and direct.

I've been shooting professionally for nearly three decades, I was one of the first guys to review the HVX for a national publication (Studio Monthly - April issue), and I'll be buying a copy of Barry's HVX book to warpdrive my knowledge of the HVX. The more you learn, the more you should realize you don't know...

And no - Barry didn't ask me to make this post.
