Can anyone please provide information about the various advantages of using
interlace and progressive settings on the HVX200.
I have been shooting 720 24pn to save disk space and to take advantage of the frame rate function. My primary outlets are dvds, web, ipod, and some broadcast, no film transfers. Will I get stuck at some point using 24pn?

24p is great for the film look, for a high-end high-budget look, etc.

But it's not for everything. Some things are far more appropriate for 60i/60p. Live events, for example -- the Super Bowl and American Idol are broadcast in 720/60p; live events on 1080 networks are broadcast in 1080/60i. Soap operas and shows like The Late Show and The Tonight Show are 1080/60i or 480/60i.

Sports, news, live broadcasts, live events, those kinds of things are usually shot in 60i or 60p.

Cheesy local commercials are typically shot/broadcast in 60i. High-end national commercials or regional commercials, or high-budget local commercials, use film or 24p for the film look.

Hi Barry:

Is there any specific situation one should use 24pn mode besides undercranking.

Is this similar to 24pA when shooting DV, AND is shooting 24P to P2 mean all excess frames are done away with as well but for a 23.98 time line in real time ?

I'm asking all these questions as i just got my Camera and am still tinkering with it. Is your book out yet ?

Nigel
