idiot question regarding my new HVX!

Good news: I got my HVX200 today!

But now I have a really dumb question... what is that clucking sound? :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Okay, but seriously... this question is even more dumb, I'm sure: I'm trying to connect to my PC via a USB 2.0 cable. The USB 2.0 will not fit into the port of the camera. Are there different sized USB 2.0's? I have like 10 USB 2.0 cables and none of them will fit it... I went to the store to see if there was another kind... can't find anything different than what I already have. What's the deal... what am I missing?

Yes, I'm using the small end of the USB!

You have a clucking sound?

Damn dude...Sounds like you got one of those free give away live chickens in your new camera.

Make sure to feed her.

The smiley face beside the "clucking sound" comment meant it was a joke....

Yes, I am definately using the USB port -- not the firewire port. Just above the input it says USB 2 on the camera.

There are in fact two kinds of small USB connectiors-- MiniA and MiniB. I believe the HVX uses the MiniB, which is also the kind of connector found on most digital cameras.

Apparantly the only USB 2's that I have are the following:

* USB 2 A Male to B Male (it's what the box says)

... but actually, I have another from a previous camcorder that is different, but it doesn't fit either.

Can somebody answer: Which USB 2 should I buy? A URL would be great... a specific name for this USB type?

I mean, maybe I am crazy, but why isn't there something in the documentation that specifies exactly what kind of USB 2 to use? And why don't more usb2 manufacturers specify on the label 4-pin or 5-pin (it isn't on this Belkin packaging anywhere)?

I've seen some that say 4-pin, some that say 5-pin... and others, I think... here are some at Amazon:

I answered that in my first reply:

There are numerous connectors for USB 2.0, take the cam with you to Radioshack and have them match the right cable up for you, their customer service rocks.

Well you have two types of usb...usb A and usb B. One is the typical flat rectangular connection. The other is the smaller trapazoid looking connection.

I dont what else to tell you from there:(

unless thee body has a propretary connection for usb.

I never usb so I dont know...and my camera is not in my possession to check.

Thanks. Yes, that was it... I took my camera to Radio Shack and got a 5-pin there. I don't know about all the A and B stuff though, isn't that standard A-to-B regardless of if it is a 4-pin or 5-pin? I've heard some answers like: "You may need an A or B...". Maybe I misunderstood them. Anyhow, thanks!
