Hiro - Post your Letus35 footage here!

I laughed when i saw this, I just got the letus35a! Quygen is on top of his game when it comes to shipping. So, heres what I know.

-The letus35a is very light. I thought it would be heavy
-50mm canon FD lens is heavier than the letus
-Makes my dvx front heavy
-It takes a while to setup
-The GG gives it the film look
-You have be precise with your focus, if they move... its over!

I still *have* to play with it a little bit more, I have music video to shoot this weekend, ill be using it for some shots. but heres some footage, its very basic, ignore the music!

*added 2nd video, found some footage from when just pulled it out of the box. Its grainy because I didnt turn on the vibrator.

Hiro, maybe I have an untrained eye, byt that really looked like 16mm footage to me. Nice lighting!

lol

the adapter is a letusa35, you have to flip your image on the camera, I use the magnet trick with the lcd. the light i used was 500 watts

Kevin Peeples is currently using it for his music video right now, im sure he'll have some footage to share with you guys, I wont have any until next week.

I know what you mean. Staying focused can be really hard unless you plan everything and the actors or subject are not moving back and forth from the camera. Even though it really complicates every shot it also adds that sweet DOF that makes it worth it if it's done right.
What kind of lighting did you use on that clip??? Any CC on it? It looked very filmic.

Did you notice all that loss of light?
Someone needs to call the cops and file a missing report.

no cc, I notice the noise when I was editing it so I didnt bother.

I used a 500 watt worklight from lowes... yea its ghetto, i just aimed it at her.

Yea, there is definetly some loss of light, .. just use alot of lights to make up for it. The light loss isn't a problem when youre shooting outside, I find myself having to use the ND filters. so its all good.

Do you mean that you didn't CC it because it added more noise to the image? Or just when you try brighten it? Sometimes I realize if you heavily color correct something it just gets nasty but I guess that's just with everything - Letus or no Letus.

Hello,

getting my letus flip soon. basic question: do you use the canon manual or autofocus lens with the adapter? also, do you focus and zoom with the lens or with the camera?

Many thanks, guys.

I use Canon FD Manual Lenses. You focus your dvx on the adapters gg and then focus your subject with the 35mm lense. You zoom with the cam.

the $100 pro light and/or v-light from Lowel does pretty well for the Letus adapters. Might be a good idea to invest in something that looks pro at least. $100 is worth it.

another newbie question for you guys:

why are there no canon FD lenses at B&H, only EF ones? are these some kind of special or discontinued lenses that you can only get from ebay?

thanks again
