Very nice, What was your settings on that and was it just the dvx or did you use any adaptors.

try not to light them so "flat", the older brother looks nice, the younger needs more shaped lighting. Virtually no depth, and I am not talking about d.o.f., just the lighting. Otherwise, editing is right on and compisition is decent. Very nice.

i have to disagree with the above post. I found the colours and depth Fantastic, the framing as well as the acting and cutting.

Here is why: i felt like i was watching an exerpt out of a new sitcom, i really felt like i was watching a TV show. How did you achieve that coloring? Or was that all done in camera? Settings?

Agreed 100%. Sorry Papa ;)

Looks good, though... and the acting was also good. The older bro reminds me a bit of Joseph Gordon Levitt - - - - who is a badass actor, by the way.

i think this proves that good acting makes or break it. i was impressed with those kids, especially the younger one. i agree that the narrator seemed a bit odd but then again, who is this for? is this something that would be shown to young kids in school to promote a fundraiser? it seemed that way and if so, then the narration is spot on for that kind of thing. good job overall. i watched the whole thing which is rare for me.

Looks nice, I'm curious to see what happens. both kids are good actors. Also agree strongly with the narration thing, it doesn't add anything and just points out the obvious. Nice, otherwise. Good luck with the rest.

In B. Man's place --

Yes, it's to promote fundraising. I've seen a few of these things out of Brice's workplace and they keep getting better and better at what they do. In fact, this is the best I've seen yet.

I have to agree, it not only looks and feels like a real PBS show (which it's supposed to feel like), but the kids are really good actors. They sell it.

Not only that, the lighting does work for this kind of thing. It allowed him to push the contrast so that the colors were a lot more robust, and it fits well.

And of course, the editing-- nice clean and well placed cuts as always.

Thanks Kholi, sorry for not getting to these questions, I've been busy this weekend with another shoot. Thanks for the compliments and critique!

I'll post the settings tomorrow. The DVX is stock, and I didn't use any adapters. I also shoot everything pretty flat and do my sweetening in post.

Wow, that did have the feel of a sitcom. And the goofy narrator actually added to that feel IMHO.

Here's my camera settings. I pretty much use these settings for everything. I've found it gives me the most to play around with in post :)
