Scene file to match the DVX100A with PD170

Hi there,

Im doing a four camera shoot in two weeks time. We are using two PD170's and two DVX100A's (not by choice). Just wondering if anybody has got any scene file settings to match the DVX100A look with the PD170.

Or perhaps you've got other suggestions on how we might match the cameras before post production

your help is much appreciated

Cheers

If you want the closest match possible, at least put the two DVXs in 60i.

Put the PD170 and one or both of the DVXs side to side and mess with the scene files, you'll find the sweet spot. :)

my advice is that, you shoot in interlace mode as well.
next to that, is that pd 170 temp color tend to be more cool.
hence you can either abjust the custom preset of white bal in pd 170
or abjust the temp set in dvx.
if you require serious editing, i will advise u to spend the money on rental
of the same camera. As the time you spend on abjust perfect
white balance on both camera might cost more than the rental
of the camera.

Bring some color cards with you and color match right at the set. Usually easier to adjust the hues and temps from the DVX menu. I had to do this on a music video shoot and it came out looking ok....

we had the shoot yesterday and it went well. We white balanced at the venue, and I matched the colour temp of the dvx as suggested. The footage matched better than what I expected.

When post is complete Ill have to upload some footage for you all to check out.

thanks for all your replies - much appreciated. cheers

Good to hear it turned out well. Would like to see your footage as well as additional footage of you balancing the cards so everyone in here can know how to use this technique in the future if they search on it.

i will like to see the diffference as well.
as sometime i shoot with pd 150 and dvx 102b
the quality in the resolution and color quite a big difference.
sharpness is another issue as well.
