HD camera monitor and simultaneous SD?

I'm doing a multi camera shoot soon where each HVX200 camera operator has their own HD production monitor. We also need to generate an SD output from each camera to feed a switcher as part of our video village setup, including burning a SD-switched live scratch master that the producers take away at the end of each shooting day as a reference video.

Far as I can tell, the HVX shuts down the composite and s-vid ports when the component port is active, and the component port is the only one outputting HD.

Does this sound right?

If so, I guess I need a convertor box that passes component through unharmed, while extracting a SD level signal from it. It doesn't need to be broadcast quality -- some sort of consumer gizmo would do it...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Flimstox, thanks for the link.

Further investigation today clarified that I'll definitely need a HD to SD convertor, as well as either a DA or pass through in the convertor to pull off a SD video village and also be able to do component HD monitoring. S-Vid and Composite are definitely SD-only protocols, which explains why the HVX AV menu only lists choices for the component out.

I did find a product that seems ideal: TVOne makes an AVT-3190 that does all that, and has simultaneous live outs on the SD side of component, s-Vid, and composite, as well as the HD pass through. Viscount Video in Cincinnati sold me some today for $375 each.

I also found inexpensive extensions for both the HVX's Follow Focus and Zoom controls, for use with a Jib Crane. Haven't tested them yet of course, but they look promising...

Filmstox, incidentally -- I just compared your product to what I ordered. Clearly the same box, with a different silk-screened manufacturer's name on the front!
