The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

This has got to be the stupidest (and longest) tittle for a film... ever. It bears the name of a book it is based on (well, it's based on fact, but you know what I mean.) As a book, the title barely works and as a film it's flat out awful.

The trailer sucks too. But who can really judge when there's only those low res versions out.

I've heard good things about the book, and the cinematography looks great.

I don't know... anyone have any insight?

Long titles a bad movie NOT make:

- Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

- Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask

- The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A Veggietales Movie :)

Touche... though it's still stupid.

Isaac- that's interesting, I didn't know that.

No idea what it's about.

Gotta say though, the first time I saw the ttrailer I thought it was one of the coolest titles I'd ever heard.

Just heard about him in a "Lucky Luke" book :)

Its a very popular American story, but not much known over here...

Anyway, I'm probably waiting for "The Long trip home by American jornalist John Smith after 25 years living with a lovely family in China".

or, still

" The fight between John Smith and Carl Fox over the Beer bill at the local Bar"

"The canning of SPZ's long awaited feature movie by the cowards investors and Non-profit organizations"...

Not very inspired today, sorry.

Ya, i actually liked the title when i heard it. It's clever, and different. I love the teaser. I think it packs a punch in a short minute. Casey Affleck looks good in it. And someone mentioned cinematography too. I agree with that.

I'd say it's about time Jesse James got a movie...and if you know the song, you'll probably agree that the title is appropriate.

Look at it this way. Back in the day, they didn't have movies, so they used songs to tell a story. Now, there have been plenty of songs whose stories have evolved into books, film, whatever. But the legendary name of Jesse James is unknown even to many Americans...so I look at a film like this as an opportunity to pass on history to a new generation. Hope they don't screw it up.

Jesse James is my fourth cousin five times removed, whatever the **** that means.

I'm looking forward to it and I like the unwieldy title....sounds old-fashioned.

Roger Deakins is the cinematographer...so I'm sure it will look great.

I think it's a vanity project for Brad Pitt, who is supposedly a distant relative of Jesse James.

Brad Pitt is a distant relative of Jesse James?! Sounds like pure fantasy and self-delusion to me--kinda like how so many celebrities claim to be part Cherokee.

between this, No Country For Old Men (new Coens), and In The Valley of Elah (new Haggis) we get 3 Deakinses in 3 months. that sounds like a good fall to me!

Assasination has a great cast too: besides Casey Affleck and Brad Pitt, we get Sam Rockwell, Zooey Deschanel, Mary Louise Parker, and Sam Shepard.

By the way, I wanna marry Zooey Deschanel. this is what i look for in a girl: super hot, awesome actor, funny, down to earth, and has a Kick-Ass Cinematographer Dad.
