Shooting in dusty environment advice?

Mount a good filter on the lens and use a bit of grease on the threads (that will seal off the dust). Keep some good filter cleaning stuff at hand.Have an air can with you to dust off the bag when you have to chage tape or battery. May not be a bad idea to use some tape on the tripod head (if you'll use one). Good luck.

Clear plastic garbage bag works....gaff it up and you can still see the buttons to press them.

Just wanted to thank you guys for recommending the cover. I didn't expect there to be that much dust and if i hadn't have had a cover i'm sure i'd be real upset right now. Cover keep almost all the dust out, got a little on the lens from not having anything on the filter threads but it was easy to clean off. I used clear plastic though and after being on my shoulder in the sun all day that thing was baking in that bag. It was about 95' out so it was prolly 105' or higher in the bag. What temp does damage start to happen to the cam at? Another thing, just a note, at 105' and higher gaffers tape starts to leave a sticky residue when u peal it off!

" gaffers tape starts to leave a sticky residue "
See!
Tape is great but think about it, you have this expensive camera, do you really want to treat it like your Grandpa would and just duct tape it?
Leave the duct taping to worn out shoes and your Mom's vase that you broke. :)

it wasn't duct tape, it was gaffers tape. I just had a piece of it covering the top seam on the tape door for extra protection. And when it comes to having no protection from dust vs using gaffers tape and a plastic bag to seal it i'll take the bag and tape.

I understood everything but get a KATA bag or some brand now that you have some time. No tape and it's reusable. I film in the dust with my son in BMX several days of the week and will start using my bag now that the tracks are drying out.
