How many HVX users in SF?

A blast!

A blast!

We busted out one light and played around with the cam a bit. I brought my M2 and people got to see what that looks like. Unfortunately, no one brought any footage so there was not any pre-shot stuff to see. I for one, will be bringing some next time. We also watched Stuart's reel (great 35 and 16 work) and two awesome short films from... (sorry bro'... I didn't get your name).
I think we all agreed that once a month would be a good interval.

Very Nice in deed!

I hope to make the next one for sure.

Sorry about that Jeff.

I thought I had introduced myself.

My name is Steve.

I got an idea if any of you are interested. I am in the process of making a HD reel. Most of what I have is stuff that I could shoot alone (time lapse primarily). I realize that some of you are in the same boat. So here's my idea.
Why not pool our resources and build our reels together? We could do it in a weekend, possibly two. Let's say that 5 or 6 of us are interested. We could write something simple with 5 or 6 scenes and rotate positions for each scene. Then. not only would each of us have something to take with us for our reels, but we just might end up with something we can place on the festival circuit.
I have connections for grip and electric at DTC and possibly a warehouse on treasure island.
It's a rough idea. I just thought of it. What do ya' think?

I didn't mean you Steve... I was referring to the guy that made the short films we watched at the meeting.

Nice to meet you though... Again. :)

It was nice to put a face to so many dvxuser users...

I also agree a monthly meeting is a great idea.

Sorry I had to dip out early, I'll plan ahead next time.

Jeff,

That's an AWESOME idea!! Would *love* to help put something like that together.

To those who weren't able to come:

About 12-15 people showed up. 3 HVX's in one room. We shot some slomo and some fast mo and some standard. And shot some with the M2 as Jeff said. Lots of talk about technology and workflow and desires/wishes for the near term with the emerging technologies. We had a dual proc G5 hooked up to a projector. Tested our classroom equipment for the first time with HD footage.

I feel it was very loosely structured - much looser than I would ever run a group - but it was an initial meeting.

It was great to meet you all last night. I will do anything I can to support a regular group space. I personally was taken away with how personal the struggles are to deal with the new technologies. It's an awesome thing we share.

I will reserve a room for next month around the same time frame (4th wednesday or thursday of the month!)

Thanks Jeff for the idea and follow up and thank you Dllon for location, projector, lighting, and all who brought cameras and goodies who shared with those of us who didn't.
Lots of enthusiasm, good cheer and tech stuff
Many thanks to all,

Hi all. I finally got we finally got our company website up. My reel is posted now, although only two of the projects on it where shot with the HVX. The rest were shot with film and one was shot with an old GL2. I should have an HD reel up within the month.

Brand new DLP 50" and 56" TV's being offered by Samsung. They got a couple in the Circuit City on Van Ness.

It's the first time *I* looked at an HDTV and went "wow. I want it." It does 1080p native. The picture is just astounding. I'd love to see if someone from SF would plug their HVX into the tv there? It has component HD hookups!

Samsung HL-S5087W is the model number.

I have been off from work since Wednesday. Will check to see if the room is available on June 28th (Last wednesday of the month).
