has anyone heard of www.bestpricecameras.com

I ordered a dvx100b camera a few weeks ago and they have told me it is on back order for the second time. Is this a scam? I read what you guys were saying about royal camera and I am a little worried now. Can anyone help?

ouch...sorry man at this time you are in the "screwed" boat...

i'd call them and try to cancel, then when you can't you should call the fraud dept. of your credit card and get the charge cancelled

Where can I get a good one..

Where can I get a good one..

Where can I get a good camera (AG-DVX100B) at a good price and not get scammed? US or Canada. Thanks.

bestpricecameras is a total SCAM! i had problems with them too and am disputing the charge on my credit card. Everyone - DON'T EVER BUY FROM THAT PLACE!

i love this website. i used to look into a couple places i had bad assumptions about BEFORE purchasing anything.

always do yourself a favor and buy from someone reputable. EVS, AbleCine, B&H. If your looking for a cheaper price than these guys your usually going to get ripped off.

A lot of it is "grey market", where they buy the item from overseas and it comes with NO included accessories. no battery, no charger, no lens shroud, no strap, no case, no remote, no cables, etc.. once you pay for all these items separately you're back at the original price.

I bought mine from bestpricecameras.com

Yes, they are all bait and switch, so expect that. You will not get it for the exact "low price" they advertise, but you will get a savings over some of the bigger names. If you are willing to deal with the hassle, the phone calls, and the headaches to save $500-$1000 then it is the way to go.

A few things to look out for:

1) Extended warranty
2) Additional items (i.e. battery and charger)
3) Overpriced insurance
4) A pushy sales person to sell you all this
5) If you only want the camera at the "low price", expect your order to be placed on back order or the order cancelled.
6) Don't expect to just order it online and get it in a few days like with B&H, you will have to "call them" to confrim the order, and that is when the pitch happens.

The easiest way to resolve overcharges is by bringing the credit card company into the mix. File a formal written complaint with the camera company and then with the credit card company.

My original deal was this; a DVX100B for $2199.00. I figured I would pay for the "three day shipping" at $91.00 to sweeten the deal on their end, so that brings the total to around $2300.00. Add in some insurance, overpriced of course at $120, and you are looking a price of around $2420.00 which makes me more than happy. I denied the aditional warranty coverage and accesories and received an invoice for $2700.00.

You do the math.

Anyway, I disputed the charges with them and the credit card company and settled for around $2500.00, and that works out to around $600-$1000 cheaper than the "authorized dealers". If the rebate works out, which I am doubtful of, I am looking at a DV100B for $2100.00, but that may be asking a bit much.
