Shooting 48hours film to be projected, F5 or F6? (PAL)

Hey guys, I'm doing a 48hour film this weekend and wondering if I should use F5 or F6 as the straight out of the box setting? I'm not familiar enough with my DVX to fiddle with all the settings, and I've heard the standard cinegammas F5 and F6 are pretty neutral.

The F6, so I understand is the same as F5 except it uses Vertical Detail Thin and not Thick which I heard is better for progressive displays etc. I dunno what sort of projector we're going to be viewing on, but would a best guess be to go F6?

Cheers

well what i would do in that situation is turn it ot any one of the scene files and set my detail level at -3, my chroma level at -3 and my master pedestal at +2 or +3,

Cinegamma and CineD ( creates the flattest image but gives you more range in terms of white to black for post. )

Yes it will. I always shoot with a Master Ped of -6 (and I still have to tweak things in post to get the blacks blacker). I'd definitely go with Scene File 6 if your looking for a preset to use.

i'd go with F6. it's the most cinematic look.
personally i wouldnt' touch the settings if you dont know what effect you're gonna get.

F6 is pretty acceptable for all situations. if you won't like it in post you will still be able to tweak it a bit (or a lot)

I'd recommend F5, and standard settings. F6 uses the pulldown removal (24P Advanced Pulldown Removal), and it may give you troubles when trying to import into your editing station if you're not familiar with it. F5 still shoots 24P, but you can import and edit on a standard 29 fps timeline.

Play with the settings if you really feel the desire, but I'd just leave them "out of box", and you can clean up the footage in post.

Good luck

As for RCBrown's advice, it's perfectly sound for NTSC users, however I believe the original poster said he was using PAL. Not a dig on you at all Brown, I just think the differences between F5 and F6 are not nearly as drastic in PAL land.
Peace,
