Interesting. Scene files not working HVX200?

This may save future headeaches when loading scene files with several different HVX200 units and one SD card.

At the New York Bootcamp I was able to get a copy of some scene file settings from Evin. He loaded his SD card into my camera and could not load this scene files into my HVX200. We kind of looked at each other and said "I don't know". Looks like I have to return the unit for repairs.

I did some testing the next day to figure out what the problem was.

What I have learned is this:
The begining header of the scene files look like this

Evin's:scene file header
Ver 1.00-00
AG-HVX200P
TITLE:POL
<F1>

Roger's : scene file header
Ver 1.00-00
AG-HVX200T
TITLE:POL
<F1>

Notice the AG-HVX200P. On my HVX200 I have a "T" and the header of the file and Evin had a "P" on his header. I reformated my SD card after I backup Evins settings to my PC. I then went to the Card Functions menu on the camera and formated the card and did a re-write for all four scene files with blank default settings. I opened my blank scene files in a text editor and noticed the difference setting a the top header my scene files. I then replaced the Evins "P" with a "T" a Voila!. The scene files Evin worked so hard on are now working on my HXV200 without returning for repairs.

I do not know what is the difference between every HVX200 out there with sifferent scene files but I am hoping somebody read this post will know the reason why different scene files on different HVX200 cameras are written differently.

I had the same problem with the files off of the HVX Book disc. Camera just didn't see them. But as soon as I changed the P's to T's, the cam could read the files.

Also, I noticed that the Card Functions menu wasn't available in the main menu when in tape mode, just in P2 mode. That's a pain.

one thing... the title of the header is "POL" which is my ID in the scene files that I use to send to panasonic, probably are taken from this board or the official website of panasonic spain...
So, if you live in NY, you have an US version of the camera, and the files are not compatible between the european and US version of the camera...
It's not only the P or E or T of the header, but some items have different numbers in europe and US
Have you tried with US scene files?

Well, I registered my camera with Panasonic in August after I bought it and it didn't reject my serial number. In fact, they sent me your book.

Should they have rejected it as a Japanese model cam? I bought it as a regular camera from B&H, not grey market (at least that's not what I ordered).

Id be careful with that as it is not outside the realms of possibilty that Canon US supplimented stock with Cams initially intended for Japanese Market. The Cam is 100% exactly the same. This would mean your warranty etc are all as valid as any other US camera and your camera in turn is 100% legitimate NOT grey market. They people who did get the few greys from BHPhoto had their serials rejected.

Not saying its what happened but Id say possible.
