How many HVX users in SF?

Let's set it up for Wednesday at BAVC.

We can always adjust windage and change as necessary.

For this first meeting we can have the host make the guest list and arrangements.

What time is best for everyone?

I got class at BAVC till 5:00pm. I'm sure many of the classrooms are taken till then, as I'm sure many people will be working until then. Should we set it at 6 or 6:30 to make sure your guy out of the city can get here in time?

Let's get BAVC confirmed and set up with the folks who were offering if that is what works best for everyone.

I have reserved my conference room here on the Presidio as a backup in case we can't get the BAVC thing confirmed by Monday.

Does around 6:30 work for everyone?

AHOY THERE!

The answer is *YES* to meeting at BAVC. The screening room is reserved from 6:30 until 10pm (close). The technician may need a little bit of time after 6pm to set up so the room may not be fully set up by 6:30. How about we officially start the meeting at 7pm?

A couple of questions: We have a projector and a screen, we have miniDV decks and DVD players. Who has something they want to show off? And what format is it? Can we keep the formats to a minimum (IE - DVD only?).

Hopefully some people's will bring their HVX'es with them. We have a huge 30" apple cinema display here at BAVC too - I'm curious to see if we can bring that in as well.

Excited to meeting all of you who show up!

The location:

BAVC (Bay Area Video Coalition)
2727 Mariposa Street, 2nd Floor (above Starbucks) @ Bryant
San Francisco, CA 94110
In the Mission District

WHEN: 6:30 at BAVC in the MPR. Parking isn't too hard at that time. Can usually find parking within a block radius.

Can I get a show of hands for those who are bringing material, and who are planning on showing up?

See y'all soon

Depending on numbers - is there any interest in getting food or drink for socializing with? There's a huge safeway a couple blocks away.

I'm in!

I might bring a DVD of Pray Alone to use as a comparison of what you can get with Film and Composting.

Not a biggie though.

What type of projector do you have?

Would someone be willing to bring a DVX with them that I could look at / play with? I'm about to purchase a 100B, and I'd love to chat about the DVX a little with someone even though the focus is now on the HVX?

Scratch this selling of the P2 cards. Looks like the firestore isn't quite ready for regular use.

I'll bring my hvx...

This might be a stupid question, but what are we going to do at this meeting? I'm very new to the hvx, and couldn't really show anyone any of it's more peculiar characteristics.

We'll have a DVX100 A here (belongs to BAVC).

As for what to do - that's up to everyone who attends. BAVC has the resources to use classrooms, labs, and the screening room.

I personally would love to see some example work on the HVX that was shot. Also interested in seeing a Micro/Mini35 thingy at work.

I'd like some suggestions as to how we can utilize the 3 hours we'll be spending together with our equipment. :)

PS - we have light kits too!

I think what we are going to do is meet and greet.

We can get to know one another an make connections.

It's always great to have friends and different perspectives.

While this isn't a group hug or mass wedding, at least I hope not! ;), we all have strengths and weaknesses that we can help one another balance.

Just a bunch of people getting together to geek out and see where we can go!

Kinda like the Home Brew Computer Club!

While I can't make the meet and greet, I will be up in the City for a movie screening on Tuesday. It's playing one night only at the lumier Theater. The filmmaker will be there to answer questions too. The movie is called Horrors of War and is a 16mm film about WW2 nazi experiments and a small group of soldiers who go behind enemy lines to find out what Hilter is up to.

I haven't seen it yet, but a few people I know worked on the film. Anyone wants to meet up there and talk about how the HVX would hold up to the 16mm?

I think it would be best to simply plug a HVX into the projector. We could all bring at least our P2 cards if we have something to show.

I'll be there with my HVX and M2. 7:00 sound fine to me.
