XP Laptop can't read P2 Card

I shot some test stuff on the HVX and plugged the P2 into my Laptop's PCMIA slot. Then I downloaded and installed the P2 drivers.

I can now access the P2 Card Manager that the driver setup installed, but no cards are showing even if I hit the refresh button.

When I look in Explorer I see a new drive called NOMAD, but when I look into the folder it says "Not Connected".

I went into the control Panel (Device Manager) and I can see where a new driver called "PCMIA adapter, o2Micro Card Bus Controller has been installed". BUT there is a driver under "Other Devices" labeled "Mass Storage Device" that has a red "x" on it (basically there is anoter driver I need).

Any ideas on how to correct this problem?

Have you tried ejecting the P2 card, shutting down, restarting, then re-inserting the p2 card? XP gave me no problems with the P2 cards, but I had the driver installed before inserting one.

Make sure the record safe switch on the card is either all the way on or all the way off.

The P2 card should have been in the computer while the driver was installed. So unistall and try again.

Best,

Jan

Uninstalled Drivers, shut down computer and turned back on.

It automatically recognized the card and installed a driver called "PCI to Cardbus Bridge".

Then it began to install a driver called "Mass Storage Controller" and popped up the dialog box for me to install the driver. It could not find a driver for this and still can't read the P2 card in the slot.

Try this:

Uninstall the P2 driver again. Try to avoid Windows installing its own drivers (cancel out, if possible). Then install the P2 driver that came on the CD with your camera.

Then install the P2 Viewer software. ---> http://panasonic.biz/sav/p2/index.html

The problem is fixed. Here are the steps I took in case anyone else has the same problem.

I uninstalled the P2 drivers.

Upgraded XP to Service Pack 2.

Plugged in a P2 card into the PCMIA slot Card.

Booted Computer.

Hit Cancel for automatic installation of Mass Storage Drivers when it detected the P2 Card.

Ran the setup for the P2 Drivers.

Then rebooted and it works perfectly

(Note: This was done with the drivers downloaded from the Panasonic site and not the installation disks that come with the camera)
