Yes I'm afraid I have another adaptor.

Papa

xacto knife and a compass will do you justice when cutting
circles out of that plastic. Go to your local office shop. They'll
have them there.

well.. i just ordered that pack of 25... so if anyone wants one..
ill sell for a buck and shipping.
ill let you know if it is in fact the right case.. if not.. then i have a bunch of dvd cases that i have no use for

One question again. How do you guys put the Screen in this tube? Is it fixed by glue? by screws? or just does it fit in 2"tube perfectly?

The distance between fd lens and screen, is this a fixed wide? From which point of the Lens? How long?

Thanks so much. I almost have all parts bought, so building will be beginn in a couple of days.

Greetings from germany.

Another thing i just realized and let me think again.

If you take a 2" pipe and have the Screen in there, the 52mm adapter can not fit in there right. 52mm thats 1,3208". thats curious

Zakaree, thanks for ordering that pack. Let us know if it is the right one. It certainly seems like it, as it is appears much more opaque than most other materials we've all found.

Maze, my Nikon D screen is placed between two 49mm UV filters. I then have that secured inside my main tube assembly. I'd imagine doing this with the AOL CD case would work as well.

i just installed my screen in between my two uv filters and i have to say

MARLENE HELP!

just looking straight through it i can see the grain with my eyes!

ill post a grab tonight so you can see, but help!

Hi everyone,

Been out for a while, but I'm glad to see this thread is still so busy with 35mm DIY'ers! Some of you guys have really made some great improvements to the design. I have so much catching up to do :)

BTW- if anyone who is thinking about building one is interested, I have extra parts available real cheap (50% cheaper than ebay- allot left over from my experimenting days). I have:

5- 58mm Macro +10 ($8 each)
10- 49mm UV filters ($4 each)
3- 72mm Cokin P Rings ($5 each)
3- 72mm UV Filters ($5 each)

and for those of you who dont want to have to buy and disassemble a Canon junk cameras....

10- Canon FD lens mounts ($12 each)

No, its not all the parts needed to build one, buts its a good start. Just figured I would offer them to help get some people started and to clear off my messy-ass desk. Those interested, PM me.

Keep up the good work guys, I look foreword to browsing all the posts/footage I missed.

What screen are you using?

Hey Edweirdo......where've you been? I'm leaving in less than 3 weeks and I'll be gone for 3 months. Yep.......out of the warm and sunny Arizona summer......gotta love the timing! My finished adapter is working great and I'm totally happy......in fact.......the way it is now, I wouldn't change a thing. It's being put to work.

Anyway.....great to see you back!

its the aol case. Ill go get a grab. THIS IS WITH NO MAACRO LENS. just the dvx zoomed in to get a little taste.

Here is the case that icut the circle out of.

Here is some of the case between the two uv filters.

And here are two grabs using some sort of zoom and focus on the screen.

But why is the grain so fricken big? Huge blacks spots everywhere? Never mind the compression,. it only makes it a bit worse.

help marlene!

Papa......that's not the right type of cd case, certainly not the type that aol used. The aol cd case is smooth with no texture. You can't use anything for a screen that has texture or it will show up like grain.

brilliant, thank you.

i think im just going to go with the ifocus which comes with al ens :(

PaPa, I have ordered 4 different types of cases in hopes that they would be similar to the AOL case, with no luck. 2 of them were just like yours with a sort of frosted look. I'm starting to think that finding the AOL case is like finding a Nikon D screen.

Ok, that's an amazing site, it reminds me of the wonder that the web was in it's infancy. Crazy people doing crazy things for no reason but just showing it off.

marlene, I'd like to try an AOL CD case, but am having a hard time tracking one down. Could you take a look at the above site and let us know which CD case you worked with? (they have pic examples)

There's no way to tell by looking at those pictures since they have the inserts in them. All I can say is that I got a whole bunch of them about a year ago and one showed up about a month ago so I guess they're still using them.

This may sound silly, but can you somehow request these from AOL or is it (as usual) just a random thing? It sure would be nice if someone could find the same case for sale. But from what I hear of bklyndv's GG it will stay grainless even if you stop down the 35mm lens to an unheard of level. I mean almost closing off the lens. That's definitely got me excited.
