car wreck on video

ok, so didnt actually get a car wreck on video...

BUT, i almost did! I was being a complete dumbass tonight in my car...I drive a nissan 300zx (model before 350z). just got new tires, so i was screwing around a little too much tonight on the City streets here in Fort Worth, TX.

came around a curve WAY too fast, and lost control under a bridge under the interstate. came within feet of hitting the main pillars. it scared the hell out of me and made me feel like a complete dumbass...because afterall, it was a dumbass move on my part.

my buddy was in the passenger seat filming random crap with my DVX when this happened....and got it all on tape. hopefully i'll have it posted here pretty soon

thank God i'm ok........and much less, i didn't wreck my baby.

my car handles like a champ and rides through curves like you're on rails...but this time i let it get loose from me and couldnt control it, but saved her in the end. DON'T do something stupid like I did, even if the video is badass.

be really careful with new tires. usually they have a protective layer which you have to wear out before doing sport driving. brand new tires are usually more dangerous than old and flat tires.
nowadays with powersteer is harder to realize, but with older cars you would feel the steering wheel sensibly lighter (=less friction) after changing tires. take it easy for the first 50 miles or so. or more.

fortunately you learned something for free this time.

Sounds interesting. I came around a curve at about 70 mph when I was 17 and lost it. Did two and a half 360's and ended up facing back up the hill I had just come down. Luckily I didn't hit anyone or anything. Scared the crap out of me. I'm glad you weren't injured man. I'd really love to see the footage though. :D

Back in about '83 I was driving from Oklahoma City to my grandparents house in south Louisiana. Drifted off and sideswiped one of those Columns with my '69 caddy. Woke me up real quick. Didn't have a camera at the time though so no footage.

haha. yea last night is one of those moments you can say i was just being a stupid kid. came around the curve, did a 90 degree turn to the left, then i over-corrected it and ended up doing another 270 degree spin back to the right. I finally stopped facing the oncoming lane. one of the first things i said after we came to a stop was "Did you get that on tape!?!?"

the video is pretty poor quality, as it was at night and inside a car...and you mostly see the dash the whole time. but the sound of the skids is pretty intense.

When I was about 23 I rolled a minvan in the middle of no where in Wyoming, on Country Road 34 just past a town called Bill. As it was rolling I thought, "Well this is an interesting perspective." and "My insurance rates are going to go through the roof!" When I got out one of my first instincts was to take pictures (I didn't own a video camera at the time).

damn. scary. when i was 16, had my first truck.....a toyota tundra. for those of you that know anything about fort worth...i was driving north on Hulen, crossing the overpass that goes over interstate 30.

next thing i know, my friend says "look out!"...and BOOM! rolled over 3 times and came to rest on the other side of the bridge in someones front yard.

turns out, a drunk guy driving a 1985 Dodge Ram Charger ran the red light and clipped the rear side of the truck.

we werent hurt..just a few scratches. and YES, i started taking pictures right away before the paramedics made me lay down on a stretcher

haha. at least you were driving a truck. My car is literally no more than 5 inches off of the ground (stock, w/ 16 inch wheels). I have 18 inch wheels, i didnt buy them for the styling, my main purpose was to raise my car at least an inch so i wouldnt have to get so nervous on driveways and such (styling is great though). If any of you know anything about the new 350Z, the 300ZX (model before) is much lower.

oops, looks like i started a thread on a camera website talking about cars instead; my bad. I apologize to anyone that finds this in the least bit annoying. My only two obsessions are Film/Video and anything to do with Cars. Maybe i should be talking about all of this on a 300ZX forum instead, lol.

once again, i'll try and get the video posted ASAP.

BANNED!!

Just kidding. You had a DVX in the car and saved it from an agonizing death. So you may be considered a hero to some on this board. Plus you actually got footage of it, so that's cool too.

My quick story.

About 10 years ago I drove a built 70' Camaro. Thing hauled. A had two friends in the car and we were speeding around the Valley (L.A.). Going down a winding road and came upon a car that was going too slow for my taste. Floor it, go arond him and it turns out he was slowing to stop at a stop sign. I blow through the stop sign at about 65 and about 20 feet past it was a tight, 15 MPH left turn. I start the turn, lock the brakes because I wouldnt keep on the road w/o doing so and swing the car 180 to the left. I placed myself right inbetween two cars in opposing traffic and just drove away in the opposite direction.

My friends and I were freaked. Breathless. About a 1/2 mile away, we drove by a church - one that always has witty sayings on their marque. As we drove by we saw the night's lesson. "God Allows U-Turns."

(No footage though, sorry.)

Last year sometime, I was driving home from some event, and it was really raining. In my Bronco 2, the windshield wiper blades were broken, so I couldnt see very well. It was only three blocks to my house, so I figured i'd make it. I started daydreaming, and the next thing I know, im coming up on a stop sign at 45 miles per hour! Out of panic, I slammed on the brakes and my car 360'd out into the street. I got out of the car and I dont know why but I right away started checking my transmission...thought it was really weird afterwords. I got back in my car and drove home in shock. I was lucky I didnt roll over in that damn Bronco...no DVX with me either.
