Tha looks very good! Did you use CF25 or did you deinterlace on post? What were the settings on the Z1? What did you do on CC? Did you use any 35mm adapter? Very good job, man!

Thanks for the kind words, i did use cf25 and i did set up a profile for the particular settings i wanted, i cant remember what they were exactly, nothing major i just played with settings until i got the look i wanted. Im not sure what you mean by cc?
I didnt have a 35mm adapter just shot at the end of the barrel as much as possible and used the widest aperture, I used a 1/4 black pro mist filter throughout.

Once again thanks for taking the time to view.

The look is great. Probably the best I've seen from this cam.
What did you use for your audio setup? Did you use the XLR jacks on the camera itself? I've always been skeptical of the quality of Sony's XLR audio.

Did you use Magic Bullet Editors for your post color grading?
Sorry for all the questions.

I recently bought tiffens' ultra-contrast filter and I'm not too satisfied with it. The footage comes out too pasty. I checked the tiffen website to check out the 1/4 black pro mist and it looks like a 70s' porn look. But when I look at your footage it looks amazing! Like Roxics said, I like to know what did you use for sound and if you used Magic Bullet?

Wow thanks again, yeh the sound was plugged directly into the xlr ports on the camera, the sound guy did have it going through a mixer aswell. I used 4x4 lee filters with a formatt matte box. Do the tiffen filters screw directly onto the lens as i think that might be where the difference occurs.

as far as post goes we used a magic bullet plugin for final cut pro for some scenes, but
it was heavily render intensive, the nicest stuff was achieved with the colour wheel on final cut.

Great job...liked the color, the mood, the actors, the story, framing, moves etc.
HZ1U...yes and thanks for all the info.

It was good, it was sponsored from the UK film council, how did you get the funding? That would be interesting. Nice movie.

I believe i did use cinetone, We had 3,000 english pounds to shoot a 10 min short which proved very difficult but we managed, as far as lights go i had only 4, 2 800 watt redheads and 2 mizars. I will have to ask the director how he got the funding from the uk film council, i think he applied through nothern film and media. i was dop/camera op, a two day shoot, it was tough going but a lot of fun.

Very good!
If 3000 pounds produced that short, maybe forum administrators should consider to start contests and award the best short every 3 months or so and then give the best shorts at the end of the year in a collective dvd for $10 to their members in full HD! That would be the best promotion for an HDV camera and forum IMO!

Hi Yas

Thanks for you comments. Glad you enjoyed it.

Getting the money was a result of 3 years of knocking on Northern Film & Medias door to get something made. They have this stingers programme that funds short films every year. You might have a hard time getting any if you are not from the north east of england so sorry can't be of more help!
