Lady In The Water

Wow, that trailer did nothing for me. I was somewhat intrigued after watching the teaser, but I would not see this movie based on what I just saw.

Aside from the fact that this trailer has horrible pacing, what was with the numerous cheezy camera movements and the crappy cg animals? Have we not gotten enough of really bad, plasticky looking wolves with Day after Tomorrow, UnderWorld and Narnia???

Just my opinion :)

I too agree that Night needs to stop with the cameos. I love his work and think he is one of the better filmmakers working today; in fact I find him to be one of the few working filmmakers that seems to understand the langauge of cinema

I am baffled not only at the seemingly detesting of Night but the opinion his films are not good films. You guys trip on the hype sorrounding him ? The fact that he has succesfully Written and Directed 5 films (4 of which have grossed

$662,501,675
$248,099,143
$408,265,690
$256,697,520

Not too mention he is an Oscar nominated filmmaker and writer and he is all of 35 years old ? Come on guys; let's not be ridiculous about it

That being said?

I was totally into this trailer but was completely removed the second I saw Knight in it. I was like 'shi*, there he is again'

He needs to chill on that. I also would like to see something new from him genrewise and we might get it with Life of Pi

i totally agree with you John, now stop reading my damn mind

having been on set, i can tell you that the wolves aren't cg. they're animatronic.

I would bet they used a combination of both cg and animatronics. There were a few shots in the trailer where the wolf creature looked very cg.

How'd you have an opportunity to be on set?

Language of cinema. I like that term. There are few who know the language of cinema like he does. That being said, if I were M Night, i would be putting myself in every movie and commercial too!

hey cygnet, so you were on set for the making of that movie?
i was there for 30 days of the shoot. made friends with all the principles. ate lunch one day with paul giamatti who only wanted to talk about how he considered his entire career to be a fluke.

I guess to be fair; most actors probably think this deep down. Even Cruise said in an interview that his entire family and himslef thought his superstardom was just absurd; a dream really.

I mean, they're actors.

The new trailer rekindled my interest in this one.

I'd still like to see M.N.S. tackle something a little more adult. But you can't fault a man for his sensibilities.

The trailer actually really turn me off...

It just seems so cheesy and contrived to me. Hopefully the actual movie will turn out better.

And Shyamalan appearing in the trailer is JUST plain wrong.
We know who you are, goddamn it, now stop flaunting it.
his character is of major significance to the plot. if anything, the trailer plays down how important his character is.

Does he really have to make a cameo in ALL his movies??

I wouldn't mind if he could at least act... He should stick to his performances has a young Indiana Jones in his student films...

First off, i love the trailer. loved the teaser. but then again, im a huge night fan. hes one of my fav directors.

But i have to agree that his acting is weak, very weak. And its one thing to make a cameo in your movies, but to play a major role, like he did in signs, thats too much. But he can do what he wants, its his movies. But he could just pull a hitchcock and do 3 to 4 sec cameos...

But ill say this about M. Night. Love him or hate him, he has mastered storytelling through cinema. All of his movies are visually stunning. They're beautiful. To me at least.

And one last thing. Is it just me or can you watch his movies over, and over, and over, and over, and not only find or learn something new, but enjoy it just as much as the last time you watched it?

Agreed. I think he's also a good writer/director. Now just stick with cameos and not full roles- give that to talented actors-many of them are unemployed!

I would just like to add that Alfred Hitchcock couldn't act either... But what a hell of a director. Don't tell me you didn't look for him in every one of his movies, shame on you... That being said why don't we all watch the New trailer in HD at apple.com.
