What tripod is everyone using with their HVX200

I was hoping that someone from EVS or someone who sells Miller and Cartoni could chime in here. I don't have a clue as to which Miller legs would do the trick.

Best,

Dan

the cortoni looks, well it dont look as flashy as the black manfrotos but it has that old eligant metalic pro look, but appart from looks it seems to perform best for the price, and im hoping the cartoni name carries some weight in the world. As for legs, i would go with the cartoni legs but it seems people are pretty pickey about legs, and after tackling the manfroto heavy legs that come with there tripods i must admit its quite a task, however one id be willing to deal with if the quality was superior,

somone advise on some nice legs

EVS isn't our partner anymore.. But Abel Cine can take care of you, They have Cartoni, Panther and all the Manus. Plus they give a DVXuser member discount.

its funny how everyones using Miller legs but not the head, and everyones using cartoni heads and not the legs.

Thank god there is a bowl standard so we all can swap out pieces for what we want.

Manfrooto head, Miller solo dv legs. Good, but very heavy. I'm switching back to my old DVX tripod, both manfrotto, the 501 and the 525 legs. Good overall combo, and unexpensive. Can do good pans, if you invest on practice.

I have a heavier manfrotto head that's overkill.

Well, I've been using my HVX200 for about three weeks now. And if you ain't using it with a CineSaddle, you ain't getting the best shots you can!

Since I teamed up my HVX with the CineSaddle, I rarely use an actual tripod. Seriously! It's just THAT good! Yeah, I got a triod and a GlideCam 4000. But they gather a lot of dust since getting the CineSaddle.

Dregenthal.... heh. My external drive with a documentary on it just died yay. What i would give to be jessica simpson right now

i thinks mabe the worst thing about the HVX, trusting ur data to drives

One more thing, how on earth can the cine sadle replace a tripod?

LOL, reminds me of Eli Wallach in Good Bad Ugly, when he makes an ULTIMATE pistol out of various parts!

To keep it on topic though: Bogen/Manfrotto has a new FLUID head, the 526: although it's for heavier cams, this thing is ABSOLUTELY amazing! Certainly one of the best "feels" for a 2/3" cam, or a smaller cam with some added weight plates.

Miller Solo DV carbon fiber sticks and a Cartoni Focus head?

Anyone running the setup above? (cartoni on a miller?)

I'm looking at either the Miller solo DV sticks (cf-1501) or the Gitzo G1348 carbon fiber tripod..

What about adapting the 100mm cartoni to the 75mm-ready tripods?

Any input on the above products would be appreciated. TIA!

Colorado Video,

I too plan on using the Cartoni Focus head with the Miller sticks (1505).

As of about two weeks ago, no retailer in the US (and I checked a bunch) had the 1505 sticks in stock. After further investigation I discovered the the problem is not with Miller, but with the company that manufactures the carbon fiber sticks. It is my understanding that the 1505 should be available near the end of July.

The 1505s are the new-ish designation for what Miller previously called the VJ model.

Also, if you are using the Focus head, be sure to order the adapter nut for the Miller sticks. If you don't have the adapter the Focus head will not work, or so I have been told.

Unfortunately I have no part number. I didn't even realize I would need an adaptor until Deane at enggadgets hipped me to the fact.

Sorry I can't be more help.

I have used the Cartoni Gamma for years with my big camera, so the Focus was a slam dunk for the HVX.

How do you like the Gamma? I'm considering getting a gamma as opposed to Sachtler because it's slightly less expensive and I've heard good things too... what do you think?

I would say a combination of price and features.

The Focus head on a Miller 2 stages Sprinter legs (you will need a small nut adaptor), is a killer comb. for both reasons stated above.

There're many others.
Look for the best one according to your needs.
