HVX and HD-SDI Wave Monitor

I have access to an HD-SDI wave monitor that is supposed to be used with a Sony HD900FW (or whatever- the big $150k sony HD cam).

The wave monitor only has a single cable hd-sdi in.

Is there any conversion process to run the component out of the HVX into this??

Conversly- I also can use a little sony hd monitor that has RGB (BNC) component in. I could ostensibly daisy chain the waveform monitor after this.
Would this provide accurate readings?

Thanks

You would need something like the Kona HD10A conversion box which converts analog to HD-SDI out. It is a pricey little guy at about $1549 (B&H price). If in a studio setting, you could use any capture card that has analog component HD inputs with SDI outputs. The Kona is great for the field, so if it is only for limited use, you might want to consider renting. I am not a broadcast engineer so cannot tell you how absoultely accurate readings from component to SDI to waveform would actually be, but I would presume it should be more than accurate enough for most purposes. Alternatively, if you have access to a Panasonic LH1700 flatpanel for monitoring purposes via analog, the LH1700 has a built-in waveform. I know Varicam users who take that out for field work and are very pleased.
