Video Tour: Schloss Linderhof, Bavaria

By human error (mine) I accidently did a complete outdoors shoot with the DVX100's video setting on F4 (30fps) instead of F5 (24fps). After I quit kicking myself in the butt, I decided to try and salvage the shoot and edit the serious video I had first intended. I was surprised and pleased as, even at 30fps video, the DXV100 looks more professional and more film-like than my other camera.

Here is the finished product, a 2:56 long video of the grounds of King Ludwig II's Rocco palace in the southern Bavarian Alps, set to appropriate music.

Outstanding, in my opinion, is the light detail. The reflection of the sun off the water on the feet of the gold fountain cherubs struck me as a very nice effect. Feedback appreciated.

A DivX version can be seen here: http://www.christiangeology.com/video/clasiclinder.html

Editing Note: The feature was rendered directly into Mpeg2 and then directly converted to DivX.

Haven't looked yet. No DivX here at work. But a question: Any problem with filming there?

My wife wants to see Linderhof and Neuschwannstein, so if I can bring the cam I won't feel so bad about driving all the way down there. :)

The only restrictions I know of is filming and/or photography inside of the castles. Too bad, as they are both beautiful inside.

Oooo. Pretty. Maybe she'll settle for me green-screening her into that footage so I don't have to drive down there?

Probably not.

I guess I'd better plan the trip soon. Last time I hit Bayern I froze my...um...nose off. Got snowed on. In August. (Well, okay. It was the Zugspitze, but...)

Last big snow we had down here was March 5th. Over 2 feet of the stuff. (Got that on tape too: http://www.christiangeology.com/video/snow.html )

The weather is getting much nicer these days in Bavaria, but bring a sweater or light jacket, still a wee bit nippy up in the burgs. Have fun.
