Hey guys, this is my first post on the DVX boards, and thought I would post up a trailer that I've been working on. It's all DVX footage, no cc (other than the obvious B&W). File is in H.264, 18mb.

Basically what we're doing is providing five free 15 minute episodes (each consisting of a different location), and will be available for download on 4 of the largest mountain bike sites in the world. The first episode (Utah) will be released sometime in August, and the rest will follow by week. Anyways, check out the press release and trailer! I'm interested to hear your comments/criticisms-

As a fellow rider and DVX user I commend you. Thats some NICE footage. I look forward to more. Any episodes shot in New England?.....I didnt think so. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! Unfortunetly our budget only opted as far as Utah this season...Our remaining episodes will be Kelowna, Nelson, Kamloops, and Vancouver/the lower mainland (all in British Columbia). Whos knows for next year though! Europe is the greatest hope I'm sure...

Its the guys from Clean cut hows it going? Nice to see you on the board I like the teaser. I have noticed that you guys are using the hvx200 hows it working out and hows the dvx100 for 24p does it keep up to the speed of the sport? When I talk to Mike J he said they tried a dvx100 for some of season 2 (dropin) but they didn't like it so they went with the dvc30. so how is it in 24p? I have to do more work for Cyclepath and will be doing some trips around Ontario I need to know more about how the 24p will work for mountain biking.

Thank ZIGGY

Well, its the *guy* from clean cut. haha. The DVX is great with biking. Especially in 24p. Who knows what Mike was talking about...DVC30...what? why?

You're right cellulararrest, there was one HVX shot in there...one of the jumps near the end...very tight slowmo shot of a whip (shot from behind).

But thats it! All of the slowmo and everything else is DVX :)

Im happy to hear/see that shooting in 24 works out for biking, I was planning on shooting A LOT of footage during this falls cyclocross season for a 'cross doc. and I wasnt sure if 24 would work out, looks like it did for you. Any other advice as far as shooting bikes?

Not really, no! It's pretty straight forward...just how you would shoot a DVX normally. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about using 24p for action sports. It's the exact same thing as shooting 16mm at 24p, which you see a lot of in any extreme sports film. Thanks for the comments guys

Cyclocross doc??? Ok, let's talk. I've done lots of CX work. Have you watched "Pure Sweet Hell"?

Footage looks great. Your trailer has some great compositions in there.

If I can throw in any recommendations I would say look at "The Collective" for some creative influence. I've seen so many bike porn videos. Sick drops a fun to watch but can get old. If you can throw together the extreme and some of the pure beauty that "The Collective" has then you will have a true winner.

No matter what you do, it's good stuff.

Cheers!

Go buy Clean cut films other movie"Local Yokels" its great better than the collective the collective did not have much content for the $$$. The way I look at it
Never look at someone elses creative influence go with your own. It's your work you are selling not someone elses. Get some tips and tricks but always use your own Ideas. Great work on the teaser.

Yeah Im hoping to do a cross doc. I don't plan on following a team or specific rider though, I am most interested in the riders who do it for the pain/fun/glory, the ones that don't have a pit bike or sponsorship. After seeing some pretty crazy races (sub-zero temps, blizzards etc) I wanted to do a "props" piece for those who just like maxing thier HR out for an hour. Plus a lot of people I talk to don't fully realize the insanity, endurance and badassness it takes to compete in cross, I want to spread the word.

Thanks for the kind words Ziggy! You're right on there, no one wants to see another Collective, or another disorder, or another anything. What I tried to do this year was make the edits artistically pleasing...being much more inspired by poppy snowboard/ski films than anything really. Local Yokels was ok for a high school kid with a borrowed camera, but I'm honestly quite embarassed by it...haha. You should check out the first trailer for my new film! I just put the page up today-

The trailer looks really good, cant wait for the final! If you guys are ever in oregon hit me up, I live in portland and own a DVX and would be stoked to hang out or lend some extra footage. Harookz and some of the other guys stayed with a couple of my friends when they were in town a while back. Keep rockin!

Great trailer, footage and editing were excellent!!! I started thinking it must be hvx footage after seeing the camera in there. So happy to see the dvx in the hands of someone who can make it shine. :)

Thanks guys! I'll definitely give you a shout if I'm ever in Oregon. Man Harookz's shots were EPIC from that trip....looked like frickin hawaii or something...just incrdible.
